Getting crashes using HD files - TITLE EDITED BY MODERATOR

I make 30 vids a month and get paid to do so so it's important that I use software that is reliable. Updated with the latest patched as soon as I start to use any HD files I get crashed out. Voice over will halt the playing content, when I stop and try to save the system crashed. This is now getting un-useable and forcing me to look at alternatives.

I see this same complaint is loads of places on the net, why are Cyberlink not acting to solve this?

I even read a top level review of this produbt that said "if your thinking of using this with HD, Don't"

Any answers or shall I go straight to the competition?

1. In relation to your subject title - make sure it is relevant to the content of your post.

2. Are you dead yet? I was just wondering because you appear to have killed yourself!

3. Why not:
a) provide usable information rather than rant.
b) when you state "loads of places on the net" that implies you have quotable sources, provide a LIST.

4. You have not provide any basic data as to the spec of your PC, the type of HD files, Source of the files, a screen shot of the User interface (what you're doing and the choices you're making) let alone a diagnostic file.

You may note that this forum is a place to post an issue BUT we are NOT CyberLink Tech Support.

Here is some basic newbie information you need to read and a guide to follow.

FYI This forum isn't riddled with your issue...

What a typical highbrow responce, you should work for Microsoft. If you are not aware of this then you are blind, or selectivy so which I suspect is the case. Rather than help you call the entry a "Rant". Well OK, if this is the best Cyberlink can do, you ! then it's an un-install and a move of product.
I have time for answers, but no time for fools.

Try as I might I see no question here, has the characteristics of a rather self-important rant perhaps?

I think Dafydd indicated we are not CL support, so I certainly can't answer that fairly rhetorical question.

Don't know really, it must be up to you, I have no opinion or advice on the matter.

I have time for answers, but no time for fools.

I have time for meaningful questions but no time for abusive and selfish fools - still, maybe I know the answers but you don't - you lose.

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (see below)

Ken -

I'd assume that if you're being paid for making videos, you're sitting behind a reasonably high end machine. You didn't mention anything about your PC specifications. A DxDiag report usually gives some good indicators. Anyone attempting to assist you would be sailing blind because so much information just isn't in your post.

We don't know:
your GPU, your CPU, the source, format and profile of your clips (HD is a fairly broad term), where the reviews are that advise people against using PD with HD video, where the loads of other places are that you found the same complaints.

We do know you're cheesed off... and that's about all.

Last night I inserted 5 clips into PD's timeline. They were AVCHD (.mts) files from my Canon HF S100, recorded at 24MBps (1920 x 1080), with a total duration of just over 48 minutes. Nothing crashed. They just played in the preview window, as they always do. Nothing froze. Nothing even faltered, except an audio hiccup at a PiP transition.

Many other PD users on this forum, who work constantly with "HD" video, will look at your post and say, "Huh?" It's just not true.

If you'd like to post some information, there might be someone foolish enough to offer you some advice.

Cheers - Tony

LOL! Hey, don't you guys know a "troll" from the competition when they
post here? This Ken Burton is paid to make 1 vid per day, did his research
and chose an editing program (Power Director) that is supposedly
getting trashed by reviewers all over the net?

I did over 2 weeks of research and trying of different products before
deciding on PD8 for my Hi-Def work. The program isn't perfect, but it's
the best of the lot, by far.

In a twisted way, it's an honor to have these trolls from jealous
competitors post to the forum, but visitors who view their rants often
times believe what they're reading. The best thing for the forum
moderators to do is to remove the post (and associated thread) all
together, IMO.
