I'm using the Trial Version & I found this fix in another forum. It seems to be working.
Hope it works for all.

I'm using a Sony DCR-TRV460 and using original 8mm tape.

In Preferences>capture>DV parameters.

Uncheck both "auto stop" check boxes. Seems to work okay now.
I have the same issue...
I downloaded the trial version of Power Director 8.
I hooked up my Sony Digital Camcorder DCR-TRV460 via Firewire. When I go to capture video, the camera starts to play then shuts down after like 5 seconds. It captures only 5 secs of video.
I'm able to capture video thru Windows Movie Maker and AVS Video Editor with no issues.
My PC is Dell XPS 420: Vista 64bit, 8gb RAM.

Time code is 0

I read come really good reviews on this and would like to purchase it. But this is an obvious problem.

It looks like a found the fix. I found in another forum for PD7.

In Preferences>capture>DV parameters.

Uncheck both "auto stop" check boxes. Seems to work okay now.
