I purchased a Sony Blu Ray drive for my home theater PC, and was surprised that it came with 3rd party software. Not unhappy, just surprised. Unhappy came after having to reinstall the program about 20 times to get it to work right. Brand new computer and the only software that really fought me was PowerDVD. Cyberlink could save themselves a heap of trouble by making it easier for their customers to self-evaluate. The BD evaluator tool was a joke and wouldn't install right itself. There were 4 updates that needed to happen to PowerDVD to get it to finally play blu ray, and even then I had to close and reopen the program multple times to get it to stop an annoying buzzing sound every time a disk started. I had to search these updates out inorder to get them because the link to check for updates is dead. I really needed to talk to someone about it and found that they want to charge to speak with a live person. No wonder- if they opened up the phone lines for free, they would be inundated and unable to keep pace with the unhappiness they have caused based on the responses in this forum. Now I am stuck needing an update to watch a blu ray I rented and there is no way to find out even what version of PowerDVD I have to know which of the many updates I need. It also took two days to receive an email so that I could register on the forum for help. I sure hope there is another software out there that will run my blu ray player out there- anybody know of one?
