My camcorder is a tape. When I said USB connection, I was referring to all the external capture devices use a USB connector to transfer the analog output of the camcorder to the computer.
My current camcorder does not have a firewire connector. My old camcorder did have a firewire and it downloaded directly - unfortunately that camcorder quit. Now I am trying to understand how to transfer the current tape camcorder to the computer.

I need to capture or download my video from my camcorder to my computer so I can use the Powerdirector to create and burn my movies into DVD's. I apparently need a video capture device using a USB connenction. All of the capture devices I have looked at come this their own software to down and edit and burn the DVD. Which ones are compatible with Powerdirector or make it easiest to capture the video and then import the files or folders into Powerdirector? My system is Windows XP.
