The timeline snapshot feature only captures the content on the timeline where the scrubber/playhead is located. It will capture everything visible: titles, FX, transitions, PiP, etc. However, it won't capture anything when previewing any clips from the Media Room ,even though that clip will be displayed in the preview pane.
Thanks for confirming. It's really been a long long time, and I just couldn't figure it out. After a bit more reading and watching, I got the information I needed to succeed.

I've been away from PD for some time now and I need to d some editing on short MP4 files. I'm using the latest free version of PD 20. I simply need to capture the first frame as a image file. I've tried in vain using the camera icon in preview pane, but nothing is saved. The app seems to be saving (somewhere) because after about 5sec the screen flashes, but the new file is not saved in my destination folder. These are 4K MP4 files, and I want to save them as a 4K images, or the best resolution in the preview pane. I'll admit it may be due to operator error, after all these years.
Edit: Is this possibly due to the 4K resolution I want to obtain, that may not be supported by PD 20?
Got it figured out. Apparently, I have to drag it to the timeline first, before the CNTL-P action. Not sure why it doesn't want to capture using the preview pane only. Ah ha. I believe the captured frame has to be active - with the 8 little selection squares outlining it. That seems to be the reason. When I simply drag the MP4 file to the preview pane, it doesn't load it into the timeline - that I can tell. Nor, allow you to make active the frame your want to capture.
