Ok, thanks for the help everyone. If anyone gets the capture portion to work in PowerDirector, I'd be interested in seeing it work, other than that, I'll continue testing to make sure I can edit.

Ok, I can do that, but why does the software have a tab to "capture" from "DVD/AVHCD camcorder"?
I will try transfering the files using my Sony software and editing them. I'm assuming that will work. I want to test the software quite a bit before buying. I've purchased pinnacle studio in the past with older cameras and had bad problems with the software chrashing. Thanks for the the response.

Is it possible to capture avhcd video using a trial version of PowerDirector 7? When I start up PowerDirector with my camera connected and click the capture tab, I get the following error:
"Failed to load disc content. The disc does not contain any content supported by CyberLink PowerDirector."
Can someone please advise. I do not want to purchase this software unless it can capture my recorded video.
