I found out I needed to copy the disc to my hard drive and then import it. That worked and I am now in the process of creating my first DVD. We will see how that all turns out. I previously thought I could "capture" the video from the unedited dvd and edit, then save...but that didn't work. Thanks so much for your help however. I am sure I will have more "rookie" questions. :

I have a plain dvd with 15 minutes of video. I loaded it and with Power Director, edited it and completed after about 8 hrs...whew! I then tried to produce and put it on a dvd so I could play it later on a dvd player. I found out that the show would not work unless the original unedited disc was in my computer. I have tried to import the video from the disc to the Power Director and it won't play unless the original unedited DVD is in the computer. How do I load it on to my computer, edit, save, and copy on a disc. It appears my efforts were fruitless and now have what I began with, an unedited DVD. Can you give me any guidance?
