Hi. Backmarket is a website that seels refurbished laptops but for really low prices. I will keep looking as havenn't decided on exactly what i want yet, my budget is more like €650 now, so i should be able to get something decent.

Hi everyone,

I searched for laptop recommendations but many of the topics were from 2013 etc so given that laptops have changed a lot since then, i started a new topic.

In short, my current laptop is dying and i need a new one. However, funds are tight and so I'm looking at refurbished laptops and thinkpads. Having done some research, it would seem that core i5 is the minimum, i7, if possible,, even better. Then a decent graphics crd and minimum 256 SSD.

I live in Spain and have a few friends who have bought from Backmarket and the quality of the laptops is first class, so i've been looking on there but I'm left a little bamboozled by lots of the figures on there. My budget is only around €400

Please can someone tell me if either of these laptops would do the job of editing without lag or freezing? My current laptop is a dell inspiron with intel core i3 and it's just not up to the task anymore.

Muting a single clip, by the way, CAN be done by selecting the clip, right clicking the menu and tick the mute clip in the menu, as you suggest. Another way is: select the clip and drag the blue audio line to change the volume (up is louder, completely down is mute). There are more ways of changing the audio. And the green line of the selected clip is for the video/image: moving the line up or down changes the opacity.

Thanks. Yes, like most software, things become easier as you go and I do Like PD, but having to use green sreens etc for a simple Subscribe icon seems a VERY long winded way of doing it. Some simple Subscribe/like icons built in would save a tonne of time.

As for muting clips, i can mute one at a time but what i want to do is, highlight say, the first twent short clips, mute them, add music over it and then the 21st clip, is me talking to camera, which i dont want to mute, nor do i really want to have separate time stamps, because i have a lot of clips where sometimes i dont want to mute, sometimes i do, but being able to mute all the one's i dont at the same time, would be save a LOT of time.

The best thing to do is to make your subscribe button video seperately, render it on a green background, and just reuse that for your videos going forward. Barring that, there are freebies online like this one: https://pixabay.com/videos/subscribe-youtube-subscribe-29881/. You can resize that and use a chroma key to put it where you want it.

Thanks! Looks like I'll have to do it this way then.

Not the quickest or user friendly way, I'm beginning to think I've wasted my money subbing to this software. Can't Mute individual clips within one track (a simple, highlight the clips, right click, mute selected clips would suffice) but no, can only mute ALL clips in a track, not selected. STUPID! And now not even some simple subscribe icons available in the templates etc.

I appreciate your help but I'm going to see if i can get refunded and try an alternative like Filmora etc.

Yes, i did search the forums first and even read the one you posted to, but nothing was conclusive.

I was assuming that Cyberlink 365 would have them included in the package, given how many people use it for
youtube videos, but seems not.

I've emailed support to see of they can guide me in the right direction as something so simple shouldn;t be this difficult.

New member here and new to cyberlink so trying to work it all out.

I'm making some short videos of my recent trip walking the Camino De Santiago.

I know how to split, trim the clips etc, add audio and all of that but something i am
struggling with, whereas other editing software Ive used in the past it was pretty easy, and that's
adding a 'subscribe' and 'Like' icons to my video.

Are these part of a plug in package or built into Cyberlink somewhere? I can't find them and It's becoming really
frustrating for me.

I am using Cyberlink PowerDirect 365 and have looked in application manager (that could do with a search function) but non of the downloads are obvious to what may include the subscribe icons.

I have downloaded and installed the Social media and youtube video packages (althugh I have no idea that once downloaded, they are automatically installed into the Cyberlink software)

Any help would be appreciated. I am enjoying using the software and it's the paid version, not free, but I want to be able to do these simple things quickly.
