First I would check the images whether the images and their thumbnails are correct. some (photo) tools automatically rotate the image and or thumbnail for you.
Secondly I recall that this kind of behavior was mentioned in one of the previous versions of PD16. Suggest to check whether you have download in installed the very lastest version of PD 16, which is: 16.0.3005.1
And have a look at this topic here: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/65610.page#299065

Thank you for taking the time to reply and make a suggestion. I purchsaed PD16 disc lat month so it should be up to date but i will check for updates.
I still have a copy of Pinnacle Sudio on my laptop. I am going to see what happens with that because if that is OK, it shows the fault is with PD16.
Best wishes,

When constructing a timeline, thumbnail clips all play perfectly direct from the thumbnail list. When I transfer them to the timeline, they appear the correct way up.
As soon as I hit "Play", either for "clip" or "movie", the playback appears upsiide down.
I tried to remedy that by deleting the project and starting again.
Everything on "play"was fine, all the right way up. Until............................................I closed the project for the night.
When I re-opened it the next day to continue editing, the timeline was the right way up, but anything on "play", clip or movie, was upside down again.
I found a "rotate" tool which can put frames the right way up.................................but that leaves them back to front! (Mirror image)
The audio track is unaffected, unless I use the rortate tool in which case the sound is reversed as well
I am new to PD16,(having become frustrated with Pinnacle Studio) so if you are able to help, please make it in simple steps
