Quote I have been working for a long time to catalog and tag my picture library. This week I was ready to start on a new year. I tried to import the folder and I get an error that it can't find any files. The "include subfolders" is checked.

The only way to see thumbnails for import is if I go in each folder and select the pictures directly. This is not feasible.

I find it suspicious that this problem appears at the time ads pop up about the "sale" for the upgrade to version 9.

I did install the latest patch for Creator Update, it did not help.

I think I found the problem. I mapped my personal cloud drive as a network drive (assigned it a letter) and now PD is magically able to see the pictures in the folders. I did not have to do this in the past.

Quote Windows is up to date - patches are auto-installed. The pictures are on my archival drive, so I only add, I don't move. I thought it may have to do with size. I increased the cache settings in PhotoDirector, did not help.

It's getting stranger. I added pictures instead of folders. It created an odd folder tree in the library, all with question marks, indicating that the folder can't be found (?!). I re-named the root folder (in the library), and mapped it to the folder I wanted to import in the first place. Magically, all the imported question-marked folders disappeared, and it started to scan subfolders and to import pictures.

OK, this app is totally messed up. The import stopped halfway through the year. I selected "synchronize" to import the missing pictures. I got back to the "import folder" popup telling me that it can only import specific file types (the error in my original post).

The sad irony is that I purchased Photo Director after wasting countless hours cataloging in Photoshop Elements, just to discover it crashes inevitably after a certain number of pics. Now I'm at the same place with PhotoDirector.

Is there any decent software on the market that can catalog, identify faces and tag about 50k pictures? So far all I found was crapware. I appreciate any help.
