Quote I know there are few Z270 motherboards with HDMI 2.0 but I wasn't sure if it also supports HDR.

Does it have to be HDMI 2.0a in motherboard? in order to support HDR?

If so, could you point me to one that is z270 motherboard with 4k + HDR support?

A few more things are needed in order to suggest you a board or point you in the right direction. What size MB are you looking for.

A few notes to look for.

Hdmi 2.0a is a must for HDR. That includes everything you hook it up to including the receiver or TV and everything in between.

Hdcp 2.2 compliant. Again Everything needs to be compliant

The board has to run from integrated graphics from the cpu. I'm sure this will change in the future but for now it simply won't work.

I have a mini itx from Asrock called the Asrock z370m itx- ac and it does everything except it won't pass HDR on the advisor because it is hdmi 1.4. The wording on the sites can be confusing. This board will do 4k at 30fps. This tells you pretty much it is on 1.4 hdmi and not 2.0a. If it says does 4k @60fps over hdmi then it's a good chance it will be 2.2 hdcp and 2.0a compliant. With that said, this board is going back and I bought the Asrock fatality z370 overpriced board.

Stay away from MSI. I believe all their boards are still 1.4 from what I have read.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

Hey thanks for the information, I was planning to build regular ATX board build, however, so far all the ATX board with hdmi 2.0 are over $400

Only affordable one was ASROCK z270 mitx/ac for my i7 7700k Kaby Lake.

1. So ultimately, I would like to know if there are any sub $200 USD z270 board that would support HDMI 2.0a or 2.0 at least for my I7 7700k CPU preferrably ATX but open to small form factor as well.

2. Also if you ASROCK z370 is doing 4k @ 30fps, wouldn't ASROCK z270 be the same case?

Best scenario would be something with ATX with HDMI 2.0a so I can use HDR to my LG OLED tv but I am flexible as long as it has HDMI 2.0a and somewhat affordable.
