Thanks, I'll try it on my next tape.
I could not find a free copy either.
Do you think using Windows Movie Maker and capturing to AVI instead of WMV and then producing the AVI file to MPEG2 using PD5 would give me a better quality result? I haven't tried that as of yet. I'm not sure Cyberlink PD5 will convert AVI to MPEG2 or burn a movie from AVI.
Barry, thanks for the comments. I'm forced to use Windows Movie Maker to capture and create a WMV file. Then I use PD5 to produce an MPEG2 that I can then edit, create and burn. But I sure takes a long time with the extra steps. I wish Cyberlink would create a patch to capture directly from the double connection.
You mentioned many free programs?? Is there one that you found that would capture directly to MPEG2 format?
I'm using Power Director 5 and trying to capture old analog video using an analog camcorder connected to a Sony digital camcorder and firewire to my PC. PD5 insists that I must have a video tape in my digital camcorder and will not permit me to capture. Anyone have any idea how this can be done? Cyberlink claims PD5 does not support a double connection. Believe it or not my old Windows Movie Maker works but will not permit me to create MP2 files. Is there an answer??
