Ken, I will post a snippet when I'm finished and post the link here. I am doing a video for my stepdaughter's wedding rehearsal dinner. I'm not as pleased with the results as I would like to be - not because PowerDirector is not doing what I want, but more from the fact that she wants to cram way too many pictures into too little "space" (dictated by the music track). End result is the pictures have to move faster than I would prefer. But, all in all the end result is pretty good.

Kevin and Tony were a big help in putting me on to the PiP solution. It works fine, just more effort than clicking on the slideshow button - as I mentioned before. Maybe Cyberlink will add the "customize" feature in a future version.

Will post the YouTube link in the next day or so.

Kevin, Tony,

I used the PiP method that Kevin suggested and it worked fine. I created 3 motion paths (enter from top, bottom and left and then exit right) and then applied them to each pic. What I discovered is that once you apply the motion you can then change then motion path in the preview window. This allowed me to tweak the picture placement. Pretty cool.

While the PiP solution wasn't as easy at click on the "slideshow" button, it worked just fine and gave me better control.

Thanks again guys!

Robert
Tony,

Thanks! I didn't realize I could save motion paths... I'm somewhere past the "novice" stage with PD, so there are a lot things I can definitely learn! Thanks for your suggestion. I will explore further.

Robert
Kevin and Tony,

Thanks for your timely and helpful replies!

Will check into the PiP option. I think I could end up with basically the same effect, but I like the way the Montage effect works, and it's so easy to create it. Just disappointed that you can't "tweak" it. And... I have 170+ pics I want to use in the slideshow, so creating the motion paths for each one could be quite a task! Maybe I could "outsource" it to you guys!

Again, thanks for the great feedback!

Robert
Hi,

Relatively new to this forum, so forgive me if I am asking a question that has already been addressed. I like using the Montage slideshow effect. However, sometimes the picture placement is less than desirable, ending up in a lot of overlap of pictures, or part of a picture being cropped at the top or bottom of the frame. I think I already know the answer to my question, but maybe I am overlooking something. Is there a way to alter the placement or "landing zone" for the pictures? I can't find anyway to edit/control the resulting video.

Again, thanks in advance and apologize if this is a repeat question.

PowerDVD 7DX plays DVDs (including the one I made with PowerDirector) just fine... so it must be something with the wonderful world of MS Windows Media Player (9, 10, AND 11...). I'm just glad to know that PowerDirector actually created the DVD ok - it's just appears to be a WMP problem at this point. Thanks for your help.

Have just discovered that commerical DVDs (movies) won't play on my machine now... Windows Media Player just hangs... must be a software conflict somewhere. Looks like I will have to start "backing out" things or maybe just rebuild from scratch...

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks. Will try that. I did try another DVD (exact model/part number) from another Dell laptop and got the same results. Will keep investigating.

Thanks again.

I am trying to create a DVD on a Dell laptop (model Latitude 820). I make a simple movie by dragging the aquarium and some of the stock pictures to the master video track. I then click on the Create Disc button and simply try to create the DVD using the default Template 1. Click on the BURN button and everything seems to be ok. When I try to play the DVD on the same laptop nothing happens. When I use Explorer to see what's on the DVD I find an AUDIO_TS folder which is empty and a VIDEO_TS folder which has the directory shown in the attached image. When I double click on the VTS_01_1 file Windows Media Player comes up, plays the file but I only get audio - no video. If I double click on VTS_01_1 again WMP hangs. If I try to play the DVD in my DVD player (which is less than a year old) nothing happens - just get a "LOADING" message.

I have attached what is hopefully the basic information you would ask - but will be glad to supply anything else you need.

PD Version: 6.00.1515
Computer: Dell Latitude 820, T7300 @ 2GHZ
OS: XP Professional 2002 Service Pack 2
DVD Drive: TSSTcorp DVD+RW TS-L632D
DVD Driver: MS dated 7/1/2001 Version 5.1.2535.0
DVD Region: 1
Production Profile (from PowerDirector): DVD HQ, Dolby Digital, NTSC
VIDEO_TS Directory Contents:
VIDEO_TS 7,932 KB VOB FILE
VIDEO_TS.BUP 12 KB BUP FILE
VIDEO_TS.IFO 12 KB IFO FILE
VTS_01_0.BUP 12 KB BUP FILE
VTS_01_0.IFO 12 KB IFO FILE
VTS_01_1 24,348 KB VOB FILE

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.
