<bump> any insight is greatly appreciated!
Please view this little clip for better explanation. Looking more like an audio issue to me.

yes. the wmv is just fine. this only happens at the edit points within PD.
it's a wmv. i converted it right off the bat.
thanks dafydd.

i was a little short in my post for sure although i didn't find anything easy with the ol' UTFSF method.

I have an i7 3.0 with 16GB of ram, but it's a laptop so the vid card is garbagio Nvid 5200M (driver 10.18.13.5382)

The video i'm editing is none too demanding as it's an exported WebEx that's 1024x768 but only 5fps

PD v# is 14.0.1931.0

I'm not sure that answers everything, but I really didn't feel like I was asking a whole lot of the system here. no?

Basically at the edit point, the audio sounds gated, until it becomes audible. the waveform is there, just not output until a short delay. producing the movie doesn't resolve it, so I can't just fly blind (or deaf in this case) and hope.

DxDiag finds no problems. (corporate pc, can't send that file without being a bad boy)

unp;ugging external monitor, quitting PD and re-opening the project. all the same.

Thanks for your insight.
infinitely frustrated with this product...

why does the audio basically sounds "gated" when editing clips? I can't accurately edit clips based on words or phrases, if the audio from the waveform is inaudible for a pile of frames or half a second at the edit point.
