Thank you for your response. I will try all that you are suggesting. No, I am not trying to get free advertising, I just added my signature. However, I have removed it. Have a great day.

Quote: Turn off the shadow files if you have a good computer. Make sure that you are running nothing else while trying to edit. Clean your hard drive to make sure you have plenty of free space.

Are you also trying to get free advertising? Usually that is considered spam and quickly deleted.
This just recently started happening. When editing, the visual seems to be buffing or in slow mo and not matching the audio.

I upgraded to the latest update patch for PowerDirector 12 this morning.

1. Which operating system do you use, W8, W7, Vista, XP?
Windows 8.1

2. Which version of PD, See Part A below
PowerDirector 10.0.0.2231
CyberLink Media Suite Build 10.0.4.2928

3. Which SR number (available in the "About" box of PD and is NOT the CD-Key!)
Cyber Media Suite SR no: FBI130308-02
I can't go into PowerDirector because it freezes/stalls

4. What kind of video source material used (codec / container), extension? We often ask for a 5 to 10 second sample , please provide one as an attachment.

(not sure how to answer this question)

5. A detailed step by step description of the problem. See Part D below.
- my machine got upgrade to Windows 8.1.
- When I tried to "produce", I get "HW encode error".
- So, I went to upgrade PowerDirector 10 to see if that will fix the issue, since then it I cannot even get into the Easy Video Editing section.
- It freezes at the launch screen.

Norton Internet Security

7. What codec packs installed? See PD's Readme html file

none

9. What burning software is installed on your PC?
n/a
10. What type of blank disk was used, if you have a burning create issue?
n/a
11. What background processes / programs running (especially important for problems with the burning)?
12. Provide the dxdiag log file as an attachment, see Part B below
I am still having this problem. I have PowerDirector 10 (should I upgrade to PD11?) If I uncheck the "Fast Video rendering technology", I get:

The hardware video encoder option must be enabled to encode the selected output profile (H.264 codec)

My Display adapter is "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000"

Sound/Video Controllers: CyberLink WebCam Virtual Driver
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
Intel(R) Display Audio
