I only work in 4K now and PD16 handles it very well. However, it all depends on your PC and what processor and RAM you have. I have an i7 with integral HD graphics 16GB RAM. I do not have a dedicated card. If you dont have close to that specification you can always use shadow files.

I have a 4K Samsung TV, and I produce my films to a Touro 1TB external USB drive. The result is excellent and really worth persuing.

Hi,
I thank you for your response. It answers my question.
I am running Widows 7 on a i7 computer with 32g of ram and a seperate graphics card.
Previously I have edited 3d video and output files to a Blu Ray disk.

I just could not find any reference to the output for 4k video in the user manual
in such a way, to play on a TV. I also have a 4k TV. So I wanted to use it's full potential.
Thanks again.
From,
Nick.
I have previous experience of Cyberlick PowerDirector, but way back on version 11.
I have just purchased a Pansonic 4k camera and was thinking of up-grading / buying Cyberlink PD version 16.
After reading all sorts of information I still do not know if a project can be created in 4k to enable it to be watched on a capable 4k TV.
I am aware that it can not be burned onto a disk. (Any format of disk)
Can the file be created and download onto an attached hard disk, from PD 16 to be connected to a TV?
If not, is there a way of creating a 4k video that can be watched on a TV with PD16?
Hi stevek,
Thanks for showing an interest in the problem I was having.
I have tried several things since your suggestion.
Trying to do a "produce" also failed, and that is with the SVRT showing no rendering required.

I will not bore you with what I have done but for the benefit of anyone reading this I will say how I found out what my problem was, I think!

I purchased the Sony 3D camera long before having any means of editing 3D.

As I had taken one holiday video and wanted to use the camera again I loaded all the files, from the first holiday, on to the computer and burned the the files (as data files) on to several ordinary DVD discs.

When I set up the new computer (July) I copied the files from the discs onto a hard drive. I added all the files on to the timeline and did a "burn to disk". It worked.

After editing out the bits I didn't want and did a "burn to disc. It failed. Several times.

Today (17/10/2013) it crossed my mind that the video still stored in the camera would perhaps work better.
I loaded the video from the camera onto the hard drive.
I then loaded the video from the hard drive into Powerdirector 11s timeline. One file failed to load. All the others loaded without any problem.
I ran the SVRT program and it illuminated red in several sections. The majority was showing as green.

I decided to try a "burn to disk", even with the sections that needed rendering.

It worked, though I have still to see what the result plays like.

So after lots and lots of hours I appear to have learnt that
the video as it comes of the camera is perhaps not as good as it should be and any video that has gone through 2 transfers should definitely be viewed with suspicion.
Has anyone ever had the cure for Power Director 11 stopping after creating 21% of a file when burning to a Blu Ray disk in 3D?
I have no problem if I have not applied any transitions or fades. In other words just aenter the untreated video to the timeline and say burn. It will.

Do anything with it and it needs rendering.

There is no way to reder it.

So I assume that is why it freezes when telling it to burn.

Is Pinnacle Studio 16 better than this.

I only want cross desolves and fades along with audio editing. Nothing fancy.
I should imagine half of this will be edited out but I would like to know if the people that have flagged this up before ever had any satisfactory conclusion.
Nick
