The last time I edited video was about 6 years ago. I can't remember what editor I used but it doesn't matter. When I wanted to cut some unwanted video from a clip, I would mark the in and out points and cut it. The section between the in and out points was deleted which seemed logical.

Now I'm back at it again with PD5. When I mark the in and out points to cut a section out, the section I "cut" remains while the rest of the clip is deleted. Is this just a fundamental difference in how the program defines a cut? This is not logical to me. It also seems that I end up with more clips than I want. Please help, I need to get past the early part of the learning curve!
