Finally a good response! I'm sure there is a way to fix this where the software can distinguish between noise and a copyright single. Better yet, if it is not a mandatory feature, remove it until it can distinguish between the two. In the meantime I will do the extra timely steps to get the job done.

Thanks
Davis,

The hardware came with software with a much lower result in quality. It also came with a recommendation to purchase PowerDirector to use with the hardware. That's how I ended up with PowerDirector. You with me now?

Thanks
Goodness gracious! I have no problem with preventing copyrighted material from being copied. In fact, I'm all for it. I am very aware of other ways of capturing video. In fact, that is how I am doing it. That being said. It is making me transfer to other computers also dedicated to capturing and editing video. Thus, taking up time and costing me money. I have three computers set up for capturing and editing video, and authoring to DVD. Two are Macs and one is PC. Guess which one I'm having trouble with. Getting it now? I'm not being a bit mean or rude about anything. I'm stating facts, you are making excuses for something that should work as advertised, but does not! If the copy right protection does not work, remove it. There is no copyright detection on the other software I purchased and use on my macs...
You don't get it either. I'm looking for support to help fix the problem. Not a bunch of free useless help defending each other. Oh well... No wonder the software has inferior features. The developers have people like you backing them up no matter what. To be honest, I'm more annoyed from this than the bug.

Happy New Year!
You don't get it. I transfer for clients. Not myself. I only transfer home movies from VHS. Not copyrighted material. It shouldn't matter about tape quality. It is detecting falsely. That is a defect in the software. Most call that a bug. Why do you keep insisting that a use other software to capture? I paid for this to do the job, and it works sometimes. It should work most times, and it probably would, if they would remove the stupid copyright detection that does not work...
The reply from the developers was for me to write a novel about my hardware and system, and what exactly happens. They are wanting to blame my system for their software non functionality. Just another escape from reality on the developers part. The Greatbeagle is right. Remove it. It is useless...
Quote: Well I found your information, advise and help on this matter very helpful Barry and Carl, thank you,I am new to this and must admit at the start, thought would get one piece of software to do everything but am finding I have my main core of PD and using other software to complement my setup,it is just a matter of getting used to what's what and with a little tolerance and open mindedness you get the results you require, often better

I discovered the same thing, Tony, but with a different point of view. I actually posted, thinking that the developers of this software might see it. Or, that one of the trusty contributors would pass it on to the developers. Evidently it's more about defending the flaws of the software and each other than finding a solution to the problems within the software.

Merry Christmas to All!
Whatever!. When I get my tires changed, I go where they change oil and I can shop all at once.

This is all beside the point. You're just defending a contributor who wrongly commented on an issue I am having with PowerDirector.

Paid for VHS to Digital software:

Adobe Premier Pro
Final Cut Pro X
PowerDirector

I use them all, but guess which one gives false copyright protection errors? You guys are acting like there is nothing wrong with Power Director.

It's called a feature of the software, people, and that feature has a bug and does not work correctly.

Use it or not!
You need to respond and tell me where I stated I wanted the software to do everything and where I called you a name. I didn't ask for your comments, so stop volunteering them. I'm pretty sure you are the one that is not thinking, but trying to insult me and my issues.
Are you kidding me?! Your comment is a complete, and I mean COMPLETE cop out for the software developer not to fix a bug in the software! This software is made, and the reason I bought, for capturing and editing video. To say that I need some other software to capture a simple home VHS tape is crazy! The developers of this software need to fix the bug. And, it is a bug because it is detecting copyright protection where there is none. And, I was not asking anyone for their stupid arrogant comments. I am asking for a fix to the developer. That is the only reason I commented on this post. Ridiculous!
This is a ridiculous solution. I bought PowerDirector 10 & 11 to convert VHS tapes that are not copyright protected to DVD. Just because there is a dead spot on a tape (most tape I convert do have dead spots), doesn't mean that it is okay for PowerDirector to detect it as a copyright protect tape. And to suggest that I convert in a different program is absurd!

The solution to this problem is for the PowerDirector software to know the difference-especially, if by law, PowerDirector must detect copyright protection material. If not by law, take the stupid detection out of the program.

I am so frustrated. I bought this software to convert home movies. That's what it should do. Not falsely identify home movies as copyrighted material...

Send this to someone who can make a difference!
