Hi, Zorikh!
If you have the ability to choose DVD-SP in the "Create Disc" section of PD13, then that is the setting you'll likely need for burning your master disc. With your production timing in at 2 hours, 48 minutes, 44 seconds, then you'll definitely need a dual-layer(DVD9) blank to carry content of such length. In my own experience of an earlier version of Power Director, I could fit up to 2 hours and 30 minutes on a single-layer disc, burning at DVD-SP but the time of your production exceeds this, hence the need for a dual-layer disc.
You're intending to make your production into a marketable disc, Diskmakers tell you, you should break it into two parts and put it on two dual-layer disks. Clearly they've never seen any of the "Harry Potter" movie series. Several of these had running times well over the time your movie runs, yet they contain the "feature movie" on one dual-layer disc. There were extra discs in each of those "Harry Potter" DVD packs, but in each case the extra disc carried "peripheral" content(interviews with the stars, directors, writer[J.K Rowling], special effects people, etc). The movie itself was all on one disc, so you shouldn't be put off by what "Diskmakers" are telling you. There are a great number of feature movies with running times closer to three hours issued on one dual-layer disc per package. You could(possibly), again using a dual-layer disc, burn in DVD-HQ but there may be a need, somehow to reduce the file size to within the 8.5 GB limits of a DVD9 Dual-Layer disc. Your production, as it stands, weighs in at a hefty 11.414 GB(Your figure was simply converted to gigabytes by substituting a decimal point for the comma). If you have software to do this compression, it would be a good idea to apply it before you burn your master disc.
Hope the above info is of some help.
Cheers!
Neil.

Okay,
I see a degree of trans-Atlantic "bad blood" between The Shadowman and Tomasc developing here. This thread should not be creating such tension. I'm definitely backing off at this point. This is getting ugly!

What's the trick with uninstalling all of the patches and installing the original version? I've uninstalled all the programs, restarted my computer and then reinstalled from the original download file, but it still installs it with the latest update? I'm assuming there are some temp. files hanging around somewhere.
Hello, Digitally Mastered!
I may be well out of my depth here, but nonetheless, here's how I see it. You've installed PD14 from a downloaded file, as opposed to a store-bought retail package. You've subsequently downloaded and installed patches as they came along, hoping to improve PD14's performance but at some point these patches have caused problems. Am I right so far? Okay, I'll press on. The original downloaded installation will have created a folder on your computer, and, I suspect, each successive patch will have gone to that same folder which will be labelled "Cyberlink" and inside that will be a sub-folder labelled PD14(or perhaps simply 14.0) where it's all stored, original downloaded installation "bits & bobs" plus all thus-far-downloaded patches. That might be the reason why your reinstallation puts all the patches in as well. It may be a matter of sorting out and deleting the patches, leaving only the original download material and use that to reinstall PD14.
Well, that's my guess, for what it's worth. I've said at the outset that I may be out of my depth because I much prefer to install software(PD14 or anything else) from store-bought retail packages, boxes containing installation disc(s) and "user manuals" either in booklet form or contained on the disc itself("Help" files).
Cheers!

To all on this thread!
I think Scandinerdian feels his situation, as explained in his original post, has been drowned out by comments about avatars and recriminations over other posts. I just reviewed some of these posts and I see where things got a little off-track. In the 7th post after the OP, Mike(Fenman) referred to the "pop-up" about overwrite or insert options, in Post #8 I agreed with him and, as an aside(at the bottom of my post) I made a complimentary remark on Mike's new updated avatar. In Post#9 Carl McMillan(Carl312) suggested I get an avatar for my posts. In Post#10 I gave my reasons why I hadn't found one to suit, then got back to the subject as stated in the OP, the OP being Post #1, of course. After Post #10 "the fog rolled in" and Scandinerdian's OP got lost in all the other to-ing and fro-ing of this thread. I'd guess that he feels he's been ignored, given up and logged off. That's my summing up of this thread, for what it's worth.

To all concerned,
I've replied to Tony(Ynotfish) via PM. I've said all I'm going to say on this thread so I'm backing off.

(this is a re-post. A first attempt to post took far too long to save so I copied the text to clipboard and aborted the first attempt)

To Steven70,
I stand with Barry The Crab on this one. Based on your OP, we've given already as much help as we possibly can.

To Tony and anyone else who has added to this thread,
I did indeed read Scandinerdian's original post, In his first few words he wrote "at random intervalls the program descides to replace a clip in the timeline with another one", I took that as meaning he had a situation with "overwriting". or at least that's how it appeared to be to me. I tried my best to give an answer and stay "on-topic" but it seems no matter what I say, at times, I can do no right by anyone here. Sometimes it leads me to wonder why I ever bothered to join this forum "community" in the first place when some of my sincerest efforts to help appear to be rebuffed. Sometimes I feel like I should read only and not bother to reply to other posts.
I've now had my say. On this and other subjects(threads) that I've joined in, my attempts to stay "on-topic" or as near to the topic as I can, appear to be unappreciated by some others. It won't stop me posting, but as I write this, I feel more than a little "hacked off" by some replies I get.

Neil - you wrote: "I dropped a clip in between two others and got a similar situation" Similar to what? Did you get the pop-up option? Did you select Insert & Move All Clips? Did it work? or are you implying that your PDR was doing strange things like the OP's? Please clarify briefly.
P.S. Honesty Disclosure: My avatar isn't really me.
Tony, I thought what I said would be axiomatic(self-evident). I drop a clip in between two others, let's give them numbers to make the explanation easier, I have clips 1 and 2(with other clips following on the timeline), I want to drop a new clip into #2's spot which should push #2 out to a #3 position on the timeline. I'm thinking this may have something to do with how many clips are on the timeline after what is now #3. If, as I assume, there are more clips after #3, then perhaps when the new #2 clip is inserted, instead of shoving the original #2 out to #3(and so on down the line), instead, overwrites it, but the pop-up options list to insert, overwrite, crossfade or replace etc. does not appear as it should. This happened once but hasn't happened since(in PD14 Ultra). It may have been an anomaly. That's as best I can explain my meaning.
By the way, I'd already sussed out that your avatar isn't really you!
Cheers!
Neil.

ANY HELP? Support ?
Hello, Steven70!
Beyond what I earlier suggested(but I was assuming, as it happens, incorrectly that you had the store-bought package), I think B&GSpur has the right idea, restore your computer to the point before you installed the latest patch. It might also have been an idea to burn the software, once downloaded, to a disc from your download files. This would've been best done(in my estimation) when you first downloaded PD14, that way you'll have had the raw version of PD14(Delux, Ultra or Ultimate, whichever applies in your case) prior to any "patch" installations. As of now I can only suggest you try B&GSpur's suggestion.
Cheers!

Hi, Jem!
I've seen a few of your earlier clips, it appears to me as if you've got this art video thing neatly worked out and "in the bag". I don't think I can suggest any improvements(other than getting someone to exorcise that "ghost" that keeps appearing and disappearing in your clips - ha-ha!) Nice one!
Cheers!

Hi, Steven70!
I'll have to assume first that you have the retail package(two discs in presentation box) before I make my suggestion. If so then I'd advise to totally uninstall PD14, then reinstall from "scratch" using the discs to bring PD14 back to its "raw" version(whether that be Delux, Ultra or Ultimate). From there you add updates up to, but not including the latest update which caused your problem.
I'll leave it to another contributor to advise in the event that you have a downloaded version of PD14.
Cheers!
Neil.

Hello, Barry!
What I was getting at was that your post of 22/05/2016 19:19:44 was not directly addressing Scandinerdian. As you see by my opening in this post, I'm directly addressing you. If I open with "Hi, All" or "Hello All", means I'm aiming my post at anyone who cares to jump in on the post. If I reply to a given OP, I'll address my post to the person who created it. I don't wish to nit-pick or sound pedantic, but the above is the only way I can get my point across. I certainly do not want to cause offence.
Cheers!

Sorry mate -
You're basing your "observations" & conclusions on limited information.
- You've never had a need to deal with customer/tech support staff
- You're basing your observations only on others' experiences.
► How many disgruntled customers are likely to post in this forum to vent their dissatisfaction? Plenty!
► How many completely satisfied customers are likely to post in this forum praising the support they've received? Very few!
See? Your sample is completely skewed towards the negative, making your "observations" invalid.
I am not defending CL or their customer service. Just taking issue with forum posts that "don't stack up". Don't suppose I'll ever convince you how silly it looks.
Tony
Tony,
let's just agree to disagree on this point and leave it there, okay? I still want to thank you(as I have in PM) for the help you've given on another issue. I've achieved a lot through those PMs.
Cheers!

Why, Neil, would I ask you? The OP is the person who is having unusual editing behavior...I didn't think it was necessary to narrow the field.
Barry!
When you posed the question, you did not specify to whom you aimed it. Without identifying the intended recipient, anyone could've chimed in on this thread., Come to think of it, might've been an idea to send Scandinerdian a PM.
Cheers!

Sorry about that. I shouldn't go just shooting my mouth off like that, making unsubstantiated assertions without providing some kind of evidence. If I just repeat it more firmly, would you believe it then?
Neil -
Of course CyberLink customers should be able to expect a decent level of customer & technical support.
My point is that - on the whole - that's how I've found it to be. Yes - true - I've had a couple of "canned" answers that don't help at all, but on the whole what has been suggested above is not my experience.
Hopefully, if you ever need to refer an issue to CL support services you'll get the help you need.
Cheers - Tony
Hi, Tony!
Of those who have used Cyberlink's customer service, I think each user's experience would differ. Some subtly, others markedly! And the variance could lie anywhere between "thoroughly satisfied" and "completely hacked-off!" I'm not talking of my own experience, I'm just going on what I've read here and made my own observations. As for any help I need on an issue to do with Power Director, my first choice is to log into this forum. Based on what I've read thus far, if Cyberlink themselves were running this forum.... There'd be a far greater number of disgruntled users unable to get clear answers for their issues with Cyberlink products.
As clever as these boffins at Cyberlink are at creating this software, I feel their customer relations skills might lie between sadly lacking and completely non-existant!
Cheers!

I think your 'selfie' is what The Shadowman was referring to Neil. Just to spite him post one up and let us know what you look like.
Hi, Mike!
Gee, I don't want to "scare" anybody! But I think this thread has strayed from the subject, so to get back to what Scandinerdian had originally asked about, as long as you don't put too many clips on the timeline(my guess), then the insertion of a new clip between two already-inserted clips should, by rights, push one of the clips further along the timeline rather than overwrite it, and should also give the option of "insert or overwrite" by means of the small panel which should appear when you attempt to insert your clip. Hope that answers your question, Scandinerdian. Sorry if the thread got a bit "sidetracked".
Cheers!

Sorry to drag this up but having trouble understand what settings to use.
im in Australia and want to burn my movie to bluray, now all my footage is from my Samsung Galaxy s6 1080 30fps.
now when I press produce, do I Select PAL and adjust the frame rate to 30fps and at 1080/50i or do I select PAL which outputs at 25fps at 1080/50i.
To me leaving it at 30fps makes more sense? Or what settings should I be using
Hi, Dazbug!
You could quite easily do as your post asks. Many DVD players and Blu-Ray players are designed to play NTSC as well as PAL discs. The choice is yours!
Cheers!

Hello, all!
When I made the quote"THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT", I was simply remembering the age-old maxim relating to in-store customer-relations, much of which appears to have "gone out the window" in recent times. In Cyberlink's case this apparently is so. Okay, so the customer may not always be right, but the customer nonetheless has a right to expect a decent level of technical assistance from those whose job it is, is to create the software for Cyberlink. After all, the customer is forking out some big bucks to buy this stuff.
Typical Power Director users might first turn to Cyberlink themselves for assistance in understanding or straightening out problems with their chosen software, if they don't get it, or what assistance they do get, proves unsatisfactory, of course they're going to be "a bit peeved"(putting it mildly), it's then that they may turn to this forum for the help they did not get from Cyberlink themselves.
Cheers!

Hi Tony!
Me again!(you're probably sick of this by now - don't blame you!), but I knew there was something I was missing. A third view of your tutorial brought it home to me, I forgot to click Delete. Hmmmm.... There's so much to learn here and it will take me a while to get my head around it all. The image I was working on was that of a cartoon steam loco. GIMP proved far more complex than Paint.Net and will involve a far steeper learning curve. Hopefully I'll get this right and have some degree of expertise when another post like that from GoodGuy309 crosses our paths again.
Cheers!
Neil.
