Wanted to Normalise the audio from a single video, i.e., just automatically raise the highest peak of the audio to 0. Went into Audio Director and, although there is no Normalise function there (or even Normalize!), I can raise the level. But when I send this audio file back to PD, the audio is offset from the original video. It is advanced by - I don't know - several frames.

Is this a known bug? - sorry, I have searched but no results...
Quote Sounds like your best bet would be to enable the enlarged timeline scale for audio tracks under the Preferences | Editing menu:

Then zoom in on a timeline area where you have clear beats in the audio waveforms and nudge the WAV track left or right to bring it in sync. You can do that with the mouse, or more precisely using Alt + left/right arrow keys to move the clip 1 sub-frame at a time.

Thanks for that tip, Optodata! I've been using ALT+ARROWS for a long time, but can only get to do that three or four times before PD refususes to move then I have to try and move the clip with the mouse and that too is a bit hit and miss - a small movement with the mouse sends the clip hurtling back a dozen or more frames, and then a similar move in the other direction produces a completely different result. Or it may just not move at all... I'm sure its because I am working with clips of several minutes and these movememnts are just overwhelming my system (I only have 16GB of RAM, so maybe I should upgrade!)
Quote Hi all:

I need to move an entire clip (in this case an audio clip) a small amount. I've tried to select the clip and then use the hand icon but this is too heavy handed and doesn't allow fine adjustments. I need to be able to move in very small amounts.
ALSO, I don't want to shave anything off the clip, just move it.
I've looked online and can't find anything regarding this.

Anyone?

Glad to see you're sorted... but doesn't ALT-[Arrow] work for you? It does here (though it's a frame at a time, may still be too coarse for you?)

But this seems to only work when it feels like it! I can use it five or six times, then it just refuses to work... hmmm
Here's my final video

not as well-done as Toby's, I'm afraid, but I was up against the deadline of today, Easter Sunday. And learning PD while going along, so there was a lot of guesswork involved - and a lot of rough edges in the video. If I'd known at the start what I now know, I would have planned better! For example, when I got to 18 tracks, like Toby I found that PD was falling over every couple of minutes - so I took his advice and broke it into smaller sections, combining them at the end.

im sure my choir will be doing more of these Virtual performances, so looking forward to the next one!

You can do that but it's going to duplicate all your media clips. If the only thing you want to do is move the media content to your SSD in hopes of getting all the streams to PD faster, then simply move the media folder to your SSD (with PD closed) and wait for all the content to transfer.

Open up PD and your project again, and when you get the message that PD can't find your first clip, use the Browse button and point to the new location and PD will find all the clips and will update the project file with the new folder.

Great! Just what I wanted to know, thanks Opto!
Moving a Project on the SAME Computer!

I'm the middle of a large project with getting on for 20 video files running consecutively (yes, it's another Virtual Choir), and another half dozen on the way. Not surprisingly, I'm running into a few problems, like PD freezing mid-edit. I'm just running from a (fairly) new SATA drive. Is 'Pack Project' the best way to move the whole Project across to my (500G) SSD drive?
OK, I eventually looked at the comments below your YouTube video, and am now reading your blog!
Hi Toby
I'm very impressed with your video, well done! And even more impressed that you managed to sort things out in just a couple of days!

i'm currently doing the same thing with a bunch of singers. Not all the videos are in yet, so far I have 9 singers, and things are going well... but I'm a bit worried now that as I add more, things will slow down. Can you tell us how you managed to overcome your problems with the audio?

I don't want to hijack your discussion, but can you tell me how you got all the videos to the same dimensions? I hadn't anticipated that, with videos coming in from various sources (iPads, smartphones, PCs), the clips would be of varying resolutions and orientations (landscape, portrait). So, I have been zooming and cropping, and re-sizing each clip by guesstimating.

I'd appreciate a quick walkthrough of your workflow - I think that this may be the first of many such projects, us musicians need to be with others!
