I decided to make 2 ISO Images of my discs to have a digital copy in case my DVDs get lost or broken.
The advertised "digital downloadable copy" you get with the boxed version doesn't seem to exist. Cyberlink has obviously replaced that option with it's application manager, making it technically impossible to create a backup that lasts longer than that 30 day period the application manager allows.
Since I have the boxed version with the DVDs, I am fine for now. I really really hope that users who bought only the digital copy can really download and backup the real installer of PD, else they have no chance to reinstall the software after 30 days, which would be a complete no go if you buy a perpetual license for a software you can never reinstall again after a month of use. but as I said I cannot confirm that since I only own the boxed version.

Did you try running the link to download PD18? Cyberlink now has a download manager to download the stand a lone version because the download manager can start the download from where it stopped if there is a problem with your internet connection.
When you purchase, Cyberlink sends you a link in email for the digital download, did you check your email after puchasing?
Pleas read my previous postings first. Yes I did get the download link, via email, during registration and also in my member zone where it says "digital copies". However NONE of these links let me download PD18. Witht those links, I can only download the application manager (no not the download manager that you get with PD updates) which then downloads and installs PD18. That is not helpful at all when you want to make a backup of the software.
In other words: The application manager will shutdown the download of PD18 30 days after activation. So I cannot use it to redownload and install the software after that. MY only chance now is to create some ISO Files of both DVDs.
Totally redicilous, given the fact that I could simply dowload a installer package of PD in previous versions that will even work after years.

Why don't you simply make a backup copy of the DVDs? Copy them onto a hard drive and/or upload them to OneDrive or Google Drive and don't worry about losing the files.
That's my plan B. However since PD18 comes with 2 DVD-Roms, I am not sure if a installation will work if I copy both of them into one folder on a backup drive. (I guess the installer will ask me to insert DVD2 ?) But yeah, it's probably the only choice I have as a perpetual license 2nd class customer.

fox1986, I find it confusing too, did you check what's available in your members zone as the link suggested? Does that provide an actual download vs just the manager?
The links I posted state:
"If you lose the installation disc, you can conveniently download the software from the CyberLink Digital Locker."
and then
"Starting from the day your product key is verified with CyberLink Digital Locker, you have 30 days to download it."
Probably have bigger issues if it only covers losing a disc within 30 days.
Since the whole support center has been updated the last few days, maybe CL has some issue there. I'd contact customer support as it only appears appropriate that you should be able to have your own backup of the real installation files vs just a manager that may or may not work in the future.

See my attachment below. Everything is listed fine in my members area, but the download link directly guieds me to the application manager. I will contact the customer support, but I would guess the option to backup the digital version has been discontinued, probably to continue promoting the 365 Version and making live for perpetual license buyers as inconvinient as possible

This EXACTLY what I did, and the link that was finally presented to me in the process is the one to download the application manager.
Also in the confirmation email, where it says: Download your copy of PD18 here, gives me the exact same link to the application manager.
Anyone here bought PD18 Ultra Boxed Version and went through the digital copy download process and got a download link that differs from the application manager download? If not I would assume that it is no longer possible to get a backup copy that way.

The Application manager is only for the 360 version. This is a subscription model so the 30 days does not apply. There is no need to back up installation files as this is what the manager is for.
if you have ultra or ultimate, then the process is exactly the same as PD14, with the similar set up files.

Phil
Sorry but this is not correct. I bought the PD18 Ultra Boxed Version and was prompted to follow the link if I want the digital copy instead of using the dvds. When I clicked on the link after registration, it only downloaded the application manager. Inside this manager, I can install the software, but I cannot backup the install files. Sure I can use the dvds instead, but I want a backup on my nas in case dvds get broken or lost.

Back with PD14, I could easyly backup the install-File of the programme for later use.
With PD18, I can only download the Cyberlink Application Manager, but I cannot make a backup
of the actual software.
So: How can I make a proper backup of the PD18 installer files before the 30days download period will run out?
