Hi,
I experienced almost the same issue a few days ago with adding a MP3 on the timeline. I've just removed K-LITE CODEC PACK, and that's it (advice from the technical support).
In all cases, this is a conflict with CODECs
I'll find the address of my issue in the forums which contains the reference to a specialist who gave me also a solution.

hello SeptimusFry,
I do agree with you, YOU are right : Your proc. is the one to use.
But to be honest, in the hurry, I skipped disclosing something which happened when I tried to start in diag mode. When I pushed OK, the system answered that I couldn't hide a couple of programmes (in french "une erreur de refus d'accès a été renvoyée lors de la tentative de modifier un service. Vous devrez peut être ouvrir une session en utilisant un compte administrateur...". I was the administrator...
At the end, I had to do with it, then it was not totally in line with your directions. I tried to desactivate codecs, but i missed this one. Don't know why, was blind...
So apologises, apologises, apologises
Hence, I'm writing in this forum to say that YOU have the solution, I'm a naughty boy.
Many thanks for your help and your statement.
See you in Brittany, who knows ?
Truth will you :
Regards.

Hi all users and contributors,
My issue has been fixed by the Cyberlink technical support.
I have uninstalled the "K-Lite Codec Pack" from my PC and now I can read MP3 perfectly.
It's so nice to get rid of this kind of blo*dy issue.
By the way, thanks to all of you for your help.
Cheers. DP

Hi all friendly contributors to my crusade,
Tony, I can't agree more with your statement :
1. I have exactly the same issue I've heard in your attachment
2. however, .MP3 converted in .wav doesn"t work either
3. to go straight to the point (to cut to the chase ?), wma works perfectly :))) I love Bill's galaxy!
At the end of the day, this is off-putting, but I must admit, as a froggy guy from Paris, that this is improving my written english.
Will keep you posted if wizards from Cyberlink technical support find the Holy Graal

hi,
I'm afraid I'm back to square one ;
I've started win XP in diag mode but I can't see any trouble and can't see any improvement.
I'm quite sure my audio codecs are not guilty, i.e. I've disabled all, one by one and tried again one after one reading an MP3 either with PD9 or WMP. Regardless my WMP which was sometimes not very happy, the preview of PD9 carried on reading well while the same MP3 dropped on the timeline did not.
Hence, I'd suspect any DirectX, why not ? I have DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
At the end of the day, I would pray for a miracle from Cyberlink technical support, who is struggling with my problem too.
thanks.
Dominique.

Hi SeptimusFry,
Many thanks for your prompt help.
the link is for Vista, Might be a test to see whether i'm an expert ; I'm not really, to be honest. I'll translate for my XP.
Anyway, i'll try this incremental approach which is most of time the way i fix issues in this bloody inextricable computer world.
Will keep you posted, if I still have a computer (means i've not thrown my PC out of the window)
Dominique

hi Erich,
top right of you PD9, click on the question mark "?".
then select the bottom choice of the list. you'll see your verson number and the patch number. Easy then to click on "updates" and make it.
All the best
Dominique, from Paris-France

Hi guys,
I’m afraid I can’t help, but want to share that I have the same problem Stephanie described.
I’ve been using PD for a long time.
With PD8, everything was perfect.
I baught PD9 a few days ago. With PD9, I can no longer read correctly any of my MP3s on the timeline (crackle, loud like playing at a slower speed) although it is perfect with the preview of PD9, or with waveEditor.
My PC runs Windows XP Home SP3 – Intel Core2DUO E6850 3.00 GHz - 2GB RAM
As an IT expert, I’ve tried hundreds of configurations (empty project, MP3 in any sound timeline, etc.). At the end of the day, I experienced the same issue.
I’ve also reinstalled the software, and all patches one by one. Then, same issue.
This PD9 is pulling my legs !!!
Should you have any idea before I find a wizard working for Cyberlink technical support.
Regards,
Dominique, from PARIS-France
