I just did the task in your list, in that order, and my PD9 is still not accepting MP3s.

Any other suggestions? I just purchased my PD9 too. Such a bummer that it still did not work after all that.

I'm having the same problem with importing MP3 files. I just downloaded today the PD9 and trying to test it out to consider for purchase. I tried the last recommendatin from RobertJ to download FFDSHOW but it didn't help. I also had problems loading MP4 but downloaded a codec as someone else suggested and it worked. PD9 looks promising but if it cannot even handle MP3 files when it advertises to do so it's quite disappointing. Definitely a no buy for me too if that's the case. Any help out there? Thanks!
