Hey thanks a lot for doing that. I'm experimenting with rotating the video, applying a straight mask, producing the vid and then rotating the video track back again. I can't add new masks into the trial version, it seems the folders are locked up, but will use that once I buy the license as I think I am going to, just want to run everything for a sustained period to check for stability.
Another related question for when I do get the full version, then. Since you have to make the masks in an image editor, how do you make sure it's going to line up with the stuff you've done in the video? Do you usually export a frame-grab from the vid as a layer in the photo editor to line it up or is there some easier way? Thx.

THx for the reply, but no I don't want to rotate the image, I want to leave the image alone and rotate only the mask. I can't put up a screenshot to show what I want to do because I can't do it! LOL
I've mocked up what I'm talking about with still images using a photo editor so hopefully it's clearer. The idea is to change this:
to this:
WITHOUT rotating the image, to mask some of the image off using a diagonal rectangle (I'm going to put something else in the black areas). I can do this fine with a straight rectangular mask, but it won't rotate - should it?

This is my first post and I am really, really new to video editing. I'm trying to apply a mask from the standard Modify menu and I'm not sure if I am missing something here but I can't rotate the mask, I can only make it larger and smaller, keep or remove the aspect ratio, etc. but I want it to be diagonal - do I have to make an entirely new mask to change the angle of it? If I do, how do I go about that? There doesn't seem to be a button for creating a brand new mask, do I really have to do it as if it were a complex new mask and import it from photo editing, etc? I just want a rectangular mask that's a bit skewed!
I am still using the 30 day trial because I want to make sure this is the software that really suits me before I jump in and buy, but of course that throws up its own challenges because with it being a limited product it's hard to fully test if it meets my needs because I can't access all the things I'm trying to find out! Is thsi just a limitation of the trial product and it will sort itself out when I buy the full version or is there something really simple I am missing?
I've done a number of searches here and wider on the web but only seem to come back with how to rotate the video in an article which also mentions masks, nothing about how to rotate the actual mask.
I hope this is not too stupid a question! Thanks.
