I agree, this is a needed feature. I just bought PD9 and found the same problem. Need to have a picture for graphic purposes kept at same size so it doesn't scale (so it looks best).

UPDATE

Just had a thought....

Make the image the same size as your video...don't stretch it, just put a border around it to make it fit.
Then, once in PD, mask out the area that shouldn't be seen. That way the image is not resampled and made fuzzy.

Compared to inserting image in Text layer (PNG-24) versus making image match full video size, the latter is much crisper...still not as sharp as original, but good enough.
