I make youtube videos and holiday compilation videos. I've not yet found the need for what you mentioned.

Do you have any of your videos online? I'd very much like to watch a complicated video you speak of.
Maybe I can learn a thing or 2.
HDedit - Thank you. You're a lifesaver! I was about to kill myself over this.

I do find it hard to think of a situation where someone would want their tracks "Unlinked" when indirectly moving them and then "Linked" when directly moving them....

However, thanks again
Thanks for the advice guys.
I have just encountered another problem:

If you look at my uploaded screenshots.

Picture 1 shows the initial starting position of my editing.
As you can see, the clips I have muted, I have Unlinked the audio and deleted it.

However, when I try to move a clip (shown in Picture 2) and I "Insert" it in the place of another clip....

.... The video is pushed out of the way to make room for it, BUT the AUDIO ISN'T! (see picture 3). I've drawn red lines showing which audio corresponds to what video. The video + audio ISN'T unlinked or anything, so why is it doing this???

The only way to fix this is if I individually UNLINK the audio from the video and MOVE it back! EVERY TIME!!! This is so annoying!

It's making for some seriously stressful editing....
I'm really contemplating going back to PD8 :'(

I have a question for you Hal,

if say, I remove the audio from the videos I want muted, save, exit. Open again. Then through editing, realise I want the audio back on one of the video clips I've removed audio from....how would I get the audio back? Keeping in mind that this video clip has been cropped and edited in other various ways so dragging the original video file back down would be illogical as I would have to RE-EDIT everything again. Also, I can't "undo" because I've saved and quit.

I agree with Chuck about what he said about Muting. I've been using Mute for the previous versions of PD and it doesn't quite make sense to have mute as temporary in PD9. I mean, in what situation would you want it to UNMUTE when you close and open PD? Especially when you SAVED it unmuted! If you save it whilst Muted, it should load up Muted!

I find it slightly annoying as well since all previous versions of PD9 contradicts this.
