I tried a DTS test BD on my HTPC (which has an ATI HD5400 series video card) and I had no problems with that.
But this PC here (ATI HD4870) I'm talking about doesn't have a BD drive so I had to convert the test BD to an ISO for this to work.
Well, anyway. The ODD drive is not important with this problem.
This also happens when I try to play a DVD in one of the regular drives...
Hmm.. those links aren't of any help, sorry...
I don't have any problems with my hardware, games play just fine, no overheating or overclocking issues.
I still think this is related to PowerDVD in combination with my video card 
Well, my registry tweak is working, CPU has to do more now, but at least I can watch DVDs here.

yep, seems pretty obvious in your case then!
I came up with this EDID override idea because RazorWing had written about his problems with an Onkyo receiver - so this is probably not helping you 
But maybe that's really "just" a problem with Catalyst 10.12. Anyway, hope this won't stick for long, I'm thinking about buying a new 6000er series card as well.

I had a similar problem with my Onkyo receiver connected via HDMI to my HTPC (ATI HD5400 series).
I wasn't able to get bitstreaming (thus DTS HD Master and Dolby TrueHD) to work.
Solution to my problem was this:

I installed the EDID Override "Hitachi L42S503 - ONKYO TX-SR605" and bitstreaming worked like a charm from that point on. For you, the proper override could be "Panasonic TH-42PZ700U - ONKYO TX-NR905" I guess. Don't know if this is related in any way to your problem, but I thought it might help to bring this up here

forcing "UIUseHVA" to be 0 in registry at least keeps the checkbox unchecked and PowerDVD running - I take my chances

Hi,
well, it can't be an HW issue, I don't have any problems with other players using ATI Avivo.
I tried with different Catalyst drivers but it's always the same, so I think it's more like a problem with PowerDVD's codecs in conjunction with my video card.
I can live without HW acceleration, the only problem is this bug which reactivates HW acceleration by itself.
Could you please look into that reactivating issue?

This question seems to be a cheap one at first, but I'm actually having a lot of problems here.
I bought PowerDVD 10 Ultra Mark II a few weeks ago.
My video card is an "old" PowerColor ATI HD4870, latest Catalyst drivers (10.12).
I can't use the hardware acceleration found under video options in PowerDVD or else Win7 (x64) gives me an instant BSOD (STOP: 0x116 - atikmpag.sys). As I can't figure out why this is happening (only PowerDVD seems to be affected) I chose to simply disable HW acceleration.
The problem here is, PowerDVD doesn't remember this option correctly. So I play some BluRays and after a while I get back to my BSOD. When I recheck options in PowerDVD, HW acceleration is back on. 
The only way I could work around this problem was to disable write access to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CyberLink\PowerDVD10 in registry. This way no settings can be changed by itself and HW acceleration keeps disabled.
Could you please try to figure out what's causing this bug?
Or could someone tell me why I'm getting these BSODs in the first place?
