My problems (issues) appear to be solved with build 2508 for Canon AVCHD

I must say, I am very pleased, so far, with build 2508 as it relates to Canon AVCHD support. It looks like my quality issues were solved with the solving of the SVRT support issue. Perhaps I can now focus on using one editor to 'do it all'. Right now, I'm pleased as punch.

A couple of Build 2508 bullets:
Enables hardware decoding support for MPEG-2/H.264 video files
Supports SVRT for Canon AVCHD camcorders
Provides subtitle support for AVCHD discs
Adds DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) video clip support with H.264 and LPCM audio

My personal Thanks to the PD-8 techies for 2508.

Hi Robert,

Take a look at this:

James, Jeff (JL) and I didn't get SVRT working perfectly until we ticked an SVRT box in preferences. They both have Canons, I have a Sony!

Details of the tests we ran and findings are all in the above post.

Cheers,

I can also confirm PD8 playing nice now with my HG20 material
"Checkbox" enabled....

took 3 clips, added 2 transitions, total video time 4min 24sec
svrt encoded it in 1min 29sec.

tested with 1920x1080/60i, 17mbps profile

However i can also confirm the audio "pop/click" at transition entry/exit points when using SVRT.

Thanks Cyberlink, you're on the right track.

Arise,

Try selecting Dolby 5.1 when you produce your file. That seemed to help me. Q9300 2.5 GHz

Hi Guys

I've given up on trying to create the perfect 1920x1080 DVD/BD. (I use a Sony SDRHD 1920x1080 AVCHD and a Canon 500D DSLR).

What I did was I would produce a MPEG2 1920x1080 file and save it to my Western Digital external hard drive.

I then 'plug' this into my WD HD media player and BINGO! Perfect true high defination on my HD plasma. The picture quality is unbelievable, the resolution is perfect, better than the HDTV signal they broadcast in Australia.

Here's the link: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=735

PS Biff has suggested this before. And NO I don't work for WD!!
PPS With a wireless USB connected to this and your network you can watch SMWOV on your TV! Happing editing

Best Regards

Neil

Apparently I got real lucky here. I purchased PD8 on Monday, so I got 2508. Was having general crash and produce errors left and right. I followed the AVCHD thread with many of you on it and tried all the troubleshooting offered. I soon realized my issue was likely my 32-bit OS, so last night I upgraded from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit and EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT! Can edit/preview 24 mpbs smoothly without shadow files and can produce edited AVCHD using my Canon files and all fixes, titles, music, etc. at 1920x1080 24 mbps.

So thanks to the participants in this forum for helping guide the way and thanks to the fortuitous fact that I happened to start using PD8 when they implemented the Canon SRVT fix - it works great for me. I know some of you have been laboring with this for months if not a year...so again, thanks for your patience and participation for I am certain I reaped the benefits of your persistance.

Cheers all!
