I am using Windows 7, & PD 8 2220c. Having succesfully used PD 8 & closed it down, I then tried to re start it & got the following message:-
'Concurrent user sessions are not supported'
How can I overcome this? Best regards

Sounds like PowerDirector did not close properly and was still running in memory when you tried to restart it.

Did you reboot the PC and try again? Win8 64-bit Pro Retail
Intel i7-4770
16GB DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24
MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard
ASUS GTX 660 Direct CU II OC 2GB GPU
1 TB RAID 1 (mirrored) Drive Array
Several scratch drives for video, TMP, pagefile.

Hi John,
This is a response when PD is still working or you double click for a second time on a shortcut.

My guess is you have the Shadow edit file option in PD and PDHanumanSvr.exe is still running in the background and hasn't shut down - it's still trying to create shadow files for your project.

Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete and bring up Task Manager (I'm in XP still)
Select Processes tab and select the exe mentioned
Then select End process
Now restart PD8.

Hi John,

I am definately not the techy in the group here!! But I will throw out a thought. Is it possible that you have an instance of Power Director already running?

Try the old "Control - Alt_-Delete" to bring up your TASK MANAGER then the PROCESSES TAB and look for PDR8.exe that might be running and shut it down.

I am sure other members will chime in to help if I am WAY OFF TARGET!

EDIT: Dafydd & OnTheWeb came to save the day!!

Kevin

I had this same error message after I switched from windows XP to windows 7. I had to reinstall PD after moving to the new operating system. I found that after rebooting the computer the error message went away and PD has worked properly since. Q9300 2.5 GHz

Hi, thanks for all of your responses.

I can open PD if I re boot, but this is time consuming. I trid to shut down PDR8.exe by going into task manager, but got the following message:-
The operation could not be completed. Access Denied.

I have noticed since I changed from Windows Vista to Windows 7, that when PD8 does open it takes about four times as long to load a project in 7, than it did in Vista. Is this normal?

Dafydd, I have only lived near Bristol for 42 years, so I am yet to be accepted. I actualy come from Kingston upon Thames in Surrey. Best regards

This is not normal.

I actually think PD opens faster with windows 7, but I have no real data to prove this. I only had this issue after I first installed it. I've had no problems since.

It seems as there is a problem with your installation.

If it helps I'm using Windows 7 32 bit. Q9300 2.5 GHz

Hi James.

I am also using Windos 7 32 bit. I did re install PD8 when I first upgraded from Vista, but it sounds as if I may have to do it again. Thanks for your input. Best regards

John
