How can I remove a spot on an animated subject (i.e. removing a discolored section)?

Hi all. I need some advice-- I have black "marks/stains" againt a white surface I want to remove ("color over.") -- similar to how photo editors allow you to choose a color and "paint over" any such marks. Is there a way to do it for video using PD? The subject is animated, so using a mask clip-by-clip would be too time consumning given my pending deadline.I know other editors have plugins that can help with this stuff so Im really hoping theres a way to do it with PD. Can anyone make any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Not sure you'll find anything within PDR that will help without a shedload of keyframing. I think the exact solution may depend on the exact nature of the problem.
If the motion is relatively small and the marks are relatively small, I could see using a motion tracked mask to show an adjacent section of a duplicate video which has been "offset", thus displaying an adjacent "patch" of similar color and texture. This would only work in limited circumstances.

Members might have more experience with 3rd party plugins that are currently available for PDR??

Cheers

Thanks! Is there a tutorial for doing this? I can give it a shot.

Also, in case no one else responds regarding third pary plugins, I can try finding one myself but I'm not sure exactly what sort of plugin or verbage to search for. Could you provide some direction?

Thanks again!
