I am trying to create videos for my granddaughters club basketball. I have watched a couple of tutorials but none addressed why there are multiplle timelines. I know the movie starts from the botton up, and I know I can string clips together on just one timelime, but the videos have not addressed why I would want to use multiple timelines.

One of my projects will be to do highlight films of granddaughters. I will be removing a lot of footage. The videos show me how to split a clip to remove unwanted video, I have to pick a beginning spot and end spot. Is there a way just to trim part of video or do I still have to select the beginning of the video and then select where I want the trimming to end? I assume only way to do highlight videos from the game clips would be by subtraction only, in otherwords just remove the content I do not want.

I think I figured out use of multiple timelines. I think they are for certain overlays. I think if I want to combine clips from videoing a basketball game, for example, all the clips would go on the top timeline.

So much to learn, I will try to dive into all the videos.
