VHS Cassette Adaptor

Hi,

I recently installed the Power Director 12 and necessary applications to digitize my cassette tapes. I'm not too knowledgeable on the topic but the VHS cassette adaptor I borrowed appears to be too small for the tapes I am hoping to convert.

My tapes are Supertape HG-30 8. Not sure what exactly this means but I'm imagining it has something to do with the size of the tapes. Regardless, does anyone know where I can purchase a VHS cassette adaptors that would fit these tapes so I can move on with using the program?

Take a photo of the cassette tape with the label and attach it here on your next reply.

Hi,

From memory, the tapes you refer to are likely to be video8 8mm 30min tapes. There is no VHS adaptor that will allow these tapes to be played. Most commonly, these types of adaptor are for VHS-C tapes.

There is a host of stuff out there on 8mm digitisation, many members here have experience, but as an example, look here for a general overview.

If it's V8, Hi8, or D8; you need a camera that will play them, decks eat tapes, camcorder less likely. If the SONY (Sony is best) camcorder has TBC and NR it's far better. Condition is everything and expect to pay, but you can then resell.

Thanks for the screenshot. Those are the Radio Shack brand of 8mm video cassette tapes. You need either an 8mm analog camcorder or a D8 camcorder to play them. One can use the usb dongle you bought and the other with the firewire IEEE-1394 interface. I have both at one time.

Okay, I definitely can get the camcorder we used. I'll give that a shot first before buying anything. Appreciate it!
