What is the audio format your camera is using in the video? Very possible it is not recognized/supported by PowerDirector. Try changing the audio format used by your camera in settings and see if it makes a difference.

Please also supply us with all the details of your clip. Easiest way is with MediaInfoOnline: https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline

Are you by chance running PD20 on Win7 platform? If so, one needs to convert the mkv with DD audio to an acceptable supported audio stream.
