o.k. thanks, sorry for the late reply- was away.
it may be me, and there is another way to do this so here it goes:
I had started using the batch producer and found that most tasks i perform would be done twice.
There is no option to save the file as the original name-i find this option in a program to be excluded as pathetic.
now if i try to convert many old videos i first need to create a project file, copy the name of the original file then save this as a project.
So now after 100's of these i now want to batch produce them.
Open up batch producer, select these project files and bang-they are not the same profile name/quality (have i made a mistake or does this really happen)
they are all dvd HQ, so what a waste of time, after all the effort of creating and saving the project files in a custom profile, it does not keep this profile when running the batch.
How could any programmer miss this.
Doing this 1 at a time if every video would be converted to a different resolution makes sense, but what if you have 1000,s of videos that you want in the same resolution and want to save as an mpg.
PD8 would be better and more user friendly if all you had to do was
1) open the batch manager.
2)select the videos from the folder they are stored in-(the original videos, not the project files.
3)Tick an option in the batch manager window to save as the original name.
4)Tick an option in the batch manager window to save all files as the selected profile, and would be nice to be able to have an option to keep the original audio.
5) select the folder to save them in.
6) now its finished, an option to save this batch project or save and run it.
This would not be useful if making dvds with custom titles menus e.t.c.
but for mpeg that will be the same resolution it would be much easier as you dont need to add each one individually to a project file.
would like an option not to change the audio, keep original audio.
also to be able to import ac3 audio
If this is not possible then a 448 kb ac3 option in the audio tab.
I have seen many progs have the option of keeping the original audio and i assumed its standard.e.g video-redo.
The only reason i purchased this program was to combine audio and video
because video-redo cannot perform this task.
After finding out that PD 8 cant even import ac3 or save the ac3 in its original KB-rate i have wasted my money, i assumed it could, from looking at the information on the web site
i don't understand why this program cannot import ac3 audio as a separate audio file,
It can be imported in a video and then splitting the audio from the video.
