avchd m2ts 720p producing as interlaced

While I wait for the next patch I have been trying to produce one of my projects to 720 AVCHD m2ts "Progressive", but Mediainfo says it is interlaced. Youtube will not handle my m2ts videos without the sound breaking up after about 3 seconds. Some say it is because it is interlaced. Like in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH7KXqI6eXc

PD8 shows the 720 option in AVCD as 720p, has anyone found a way to produce their AVCHD 720p videos to progressive instead of interlaced?

Thanks

Hi Andrew,

Yes I remember that thread, I was working on my 1080 videos and trying to find out why there was no progressive setting for 1080 video.

I thought seeing as though it list 720p as progressive I might have been able to upload my h.264 video to youtube. I prefer to be able to upload in H.264 rather than encoding to .wmv. Plus I would like to archive my projects in H.264 instead of mpeg 2 or .wmv.

The best would be if in the next patch they give us 1080 MP4 progressive.

Cheers

You know, I never examined the output file directly, but mine upload to Youtube OK.

I had a problem the other day, one never finished. I just re-uploaded it an it worked fine.

I use the AVCHD 720P option, too. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

I have tried 720 and 1080 m2ts to youtube and both have the same problem of sound going choppy after about 3 seconds. Yet vimeo handles my m2ts fine.

Could you check your 720 m2ts with MdiaInfo, it is a free program Dafydd put me onto to check my videos, to see if it is progressive or interlaced. I might be missing a setting somewhere.

Thanks OnTheWeb but if you go to View>Text view about half way down it states whether or not it is interlaced or progressive. Could you check that for me?

Cheers

You are right OnTheWeb I am surprised.

Here are my original HD1010 720p video and the Youtube version I uploaded. The only difference I can see is my HD1010 original version was shot at 60 frames/sec and produced for YouTube at 29.97 frames per sec. I also tried producing it to Pal at 25frames per sec with the same interlaced result.

I am starting to think that a lot of my problems with PD are my Sanyo HD1010 videos. It seems strange that you produce your Canon videos fine, I think you have a Canon camera and yet I use the same settings and I get interlaced. Another, probably not relevant, difference is I do have a AC3 audio codec installed because I was having some trouble with something a while back.

I guess I could pull out some 1010 footage I have and try and re-encode it to AVCHD and see what happens. I'm not sure I shot @ 60fps, though.

I hear what you are saying about AC3 but my cameras raw footage was version 4 but the PD version is AC3 the same as yours.

I can test 720 at 30 frames/sec but if it is not too much trouble if you could put say 20 seconds of your 720 HD1010 footage through PD at least then it would eliminate the camera.

Thanks

Sure.

1st file is the 60fps source

2nd file is the 720P AVCHD render.

I'm testing out the upload to youtube as we speak.

Well I just tried 720 30fps same interlaced result.

I tried to download your png files but it says they are not available?

EDIT==== they are there now. There must be a setting I am not clicking on or something. I am going to take a break.

Thanks for your help OnTheWeb, I appreciate it very much.

Ok, my test uploads worked. Both converted to HD and the audio is good.

Thanks very much for your help, I guess I must have a ghost in my machine. although a ghost that is very specific to 720p interlaced video. Very very strange.

Anyway no more for me till the next patch, thanks again OnTheWeb.

cheers

One last thing, I checked your media info against mine and about the only thing I can see different is you have

Format setting CABAC : no

I have Format setting CABAC : yes

I then produced a video clicking on CAVLC instead of CABAC but mediaInfo still shows

Format Setting CABAC: yes.

Maybe this is the ghost in the machine, who knows

I will be upgrading to Window 7 64 bit next year so maybe that will fix the glitch.

Cheers

WOW thanks Martin, it worked a treat. Another work around I will send a message to Dafydd so Cyberlink can fix the problem, I want to use CUDA for my projects.

Thanks
