Fix/Enhance passes through to production of movie
[Post New]
Has anyone seen this before? I produced a movie using Fix/Enhance on one segment of the clip. What I DIDN'T expect to see was the "split-screen" preview showing as part of the produced movie!!!

Here is a sample:

Any idea why this happened or how to prevent it? Build 2220

Hmmmmmm, that is an interesting outcome , and totally unexpected. I vote for the right side of the screen as being the best side!!!

I am interested to see what the solution is. I did read a post, I think Robert added to it recently....but when the enhancement was added (stabilization I think) it showed in the preview window but it didn't render through to the final video.

Fred, Power Director seems to have produced your Preview Window into a finished video, isn't that weird!!

Did you try to rerender the project?

Kevin

Kevin;
Thanks for that confirmation..I knew that this was the preview screen! Just trying to hear if anyone has seen a fix! I DID re-render the video and the anomaly re-occurs.

Well yes, the enhanced side is certainly what I wanted...but this isn't meant to be a demo screen, therefore, one or the other is preferred to both together.

Fred,

Would it help if we try to duplicate it? I would try but I didn't know what you had checked off on the clip in the Enhancement section and what type of file did you render to. Was the "Compare video qualities in Split Preview" still checked off when you went to render the file...just trying to think of all the possibilities that made it happen.

I'd be happy to try it and see if it happens on my system with build 2220.

The items checked in enhance were Video Denoise (is that a word Tony?), Audio Denoise and Color Adjustment. Yes, the "split screen compare was checked".

Destination (MPG,WMV, ETC.) did not matter. Closed, reboot and opening the project multiple times had no effect.

Removing the color adjustment fix and then re-applying it, corrected the issue. Another strangeness, was the fact that the effects were "Applied to all" but only failed on this one clip in the timeline.

Just a heads-up that you better pay attention to the preview of the movie before production if you use enhancement.

Very interesting and glad to hear you found a solution.

It boggles my mind as to how many hiccups occur in this program. It seems like when you try to produce something you have to have your fingers crossed the whole time while holding a RABBITS FOOT!!

Now when I edit something it has become a habit to CLICK A FEATURE......pause pause pause ...hold my breath....LENGTHEN A CLIP.....pause pause pause hold my breath.........ADD A TRANSITION....pause paus..e pause.....exhale ....You know what I mean?

Do you think that is necessary? I feel like I am walking on eggshells with this program sometimes!!

I feel your pain Kevin;
This version of the program (PD8 ultra) is so filled with potholes, that I spend more time worrying about the program than I do the content and quality of the videos I shoot. I even find my mind wandering to "GEE, I wonder if this shot will case a problem" during my camera use. This should never happen.

Cyberlink!! Wake up!!! You are quickly losing your revenue stream. The fall from first place is about to change your business!!

My thought would be...since Cyberlink spends so little time attending to their users (based on comments here and my own experience with them) they should have plenty of time to get the patching and releases done!!

And please understand, I am a loyal fan! If I am having these thoughts, what is the industry observing??

Fred -

How very odd! I haven't played with enhancements much but, when I do, I'll make sure my rabbit's foot is at hand.

As far as I can determine, the word "denoise" is only a word in graphics/video contexts. When I'm not doing other things, I play online scrabble (to which I am moderately addicted). I play using the SOWPODS dictionary, which is the international standard for scrabble. We play some completely ridiculous words you'd never find in a regular dictionary... in fact I seriously wonder at myself when I type some of them onto the board. Just as an example, here is a list of 4-letter words allowable in SOWPODS http://www.isc.ro/lists/sowpods4.html

Sorry - I got carried away. What I was trying to say is that, despite being allowed to play ridiculous words like epopoeia, taenioid, xylol and zumbooruk, the word denoise is not allowable.

Sorry Fred - all of that is just about as useless as a non-tutorial video being produced including a split preview screen.

By the way, Cap'n Kevin... what happened to Mr Positive?

Cheers - Tony

Tony;
I was Mr. Positive , too, for some time...Now I am looking at the value of my time and considering the purchase of the #3 product (Adobe Premiere) to see if I can stop shaking when I click the "produce" button.

I knew you would have the answer for "denoise", thanks.

My friend Mr. Tony,

I'm STILL positive....don't get me wrong.....I was mostly reflecting the frustration of other users who were having troubles with the
epopoeia, taenioid, xylol and zumbooruk
Video Editing Program that we use.

I Love staring adversity right in the eye!! As an example, as you know this past Friday 13th, was my night to pilot the Ferry. Well I went right for that rock to see if it was still there!!! It was.....just kidding

You won't see me giving up anytime soon!! Why jump out of the Kettle and into the fire????

I enjoy the support and growing frindships way too much. I wish I was a programmer though and could attempt to uncover some of the more common and irritating issues.

But I appreciate you noticing my DARKER side!!!

Respectfully,

Kevin

Hey Tony,

xylol - a colorless flammable volatile liquid hydrocarbon used as a solvent

Used to use it as a student in 1970, along with benzene and other carcinogens. Never seemed to do me any harm - mind you I can't remember whether we used to smoke it, sniff it, drink it or use it in vivisection experiments - all of which are illegal now.

At least they haven't banned video editing - yet.

Cheers
Adrian
