WTV Conversion: New error showing up

I'm starting to get a conversion message that never used to be there. Why is this indicating cyberlink thinks there's multiple audio streams and now it makes me pick one. The conversion process is excessively slow now because of it. This used to be a simple process to take Windows media center TV recordings and convert them to Mpeg2.

Steve,
Please can you supply a wtv file for testing (about 20 seconds worth)? I'll send you the location of where the camera files will soon be stored. I think putting this particular file format in the same location could be useful.

Steve, I have plenty of FTP locations to chose from BUT I'd like to have 24hours to get one cleared for the camera video (and yours). It's one CyberLink techs have to clear of old data off their server.

I'll email or PM you the information asap.

Thank you.

Dafydd

The promt to choose the audio and video stream when converting is a nice feature. (Some clips have SAP or other dual audio streams) - Nice touch. I have noticed that when there is only one audio and video stream choice available, I do not get this prompt.

BUT. now.. cyberlink totally re-renders the WTV files, often changing the resolution. 720p changes to 1440x1080, etc. This rendering can take as long or longer than the clip run time itself. Before the recent released build update, conversion would take just a few minutes. (But some of the videos I converted had no sound - so again . nice job on the stream selection)

Hopefully, conversion can be changed to just that - conversion - without total re-rendering.

I never had trouble with sound... It always worked pretty good for me and I used it quite a bit. Now its so slow, I don't think hardware rendering is used, it ties up the PC for long time as you said. A lot of times I just want 10 or 15 seconds of a half hour clip and its not worth the electricity it takes to covert it. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

UPDATE:

I've found you can convert the Windows Media Center .WTV file to DVR-MS format just by right-clicking on the .WTV source file. This is done outside Powerdirector. Then import the DVR-MS file in Powerdirector and it converts fairly quickly to .MPG without prompting for the audio stream.

Still just a workaround, but way faster than waiting for Powerdirector to convert it through the process they are now using.

Not sure how much quality is lost in the double-conversion process but at least it works. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

Hello,

I'm trying de trial version of Power Director 8 under Seven 32bit (Family Premium).

I'm looking for a software that can handle HD WTV (French HD digital TV records) for editing without convertion to SD.

PD8 can do that ? When I import the WTV, PD8 said that he have to convert to MPEG but the progress bar stay at 0% event after half an hour

Hi,

If you first convert to DVR-MS format, it still is HD. PowerDirector 8 has to convert it again when you import it but it stays HD and is much quicker. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

I cannot convert WTV to DVR-MS If I right-click and use "convert to .dvr-ms format", Seven said it cannot convert this file.
I will make some tests and some screen shots this evening.
