Multiple fade ins/outs in a clip

From some things I've seen in PD20 I suspect that there is a way to create multiple fade outs and fade ins within a clip so that it would not be necessary to divide the clip into multiple short clips when going to other clips. As part of doing this it would be nice to be able to move the fades in the editing timeline so the fades would be at the desired locations to let other clips be displayed.

So if multiple fades can exist within a clip, rather than just at the beginning and end, I'd like to know the best way to do that as well as how, if possible, to move the resulting fades within the time line display.

If you don't want to split the clip and use a fade in/out, one can use opacity in the PIP designer and keyframe as desired to provide any fade out/in location and length as desired.

In addition to what JL_JL said
The simplest way to apply fad in / out or opacity to one or more parts of a clip is directly on the timeline, you must mark the positions, hold the "Ctrl" key while clicking on the white line of the video in the clip, then drag the line vertically to obtain the desired opacity in the part bounded by the marks.
If it has no marks it will adjust the entire clip.
For more precise adjustments select Clip, Button, Keyframe / Clip Attributes / Opacity
