Hello,

There have been some questions about the future of Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc playback in PowerDVD after it was announced that SGX will be removed from the latest generation CPUs and phased out of the required drivers.

According to the spec requirement for software players to be licensed to play Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs, a hardware enforced method must be used to protect the video during playback. Currently SGX is the only such protection method available. So therefore, it is not feasible for PowerDVD to support Ultra HD Blu-ray playback on the latest generation of CPUs, and may not on older platforms with recent driver and Windows updates applied.
