PowerDVD 15 on new Windows 10 64-bit Pro install won't play BluRays

I have a new machine and installed PowerDVD 15 onto it. It has the license key. Windows 10 64-bit Pro is the OS. I borrowed two different BluRays from my local library and tried to play them. Neither would play. In both cases, it wouldn't even display the menus for those discs. None of the buttons along the bottom work once I click the play button for the disc. I can't even return to the menu.

What's going on?

Hello,

Please provide more information such as DXDiag.txt file and you should also run the BD Advisor, which should provide more insight into what's up.

Thank you for supplying the DxDiag.txt. It looks like that the PDVD15 may either be an oem version or a retail version that has not been patched. There has been six patches for it.

Two Blu-ray discs is not enough. In the past I have found that Commercial BD rented or borrowed through the mail can have tiny cracks at the edge which would cause the problems indicated here on a pc. Better to borrow a working one from a friend or rent one from the Redbox to try out.

You may be more comfortable contacting support with the same information and see what they advise to get you going.

I did see the BD Advisor complain that WMP wasn't installed. Why would that matter?

Well, I installed one patch file and installed WMP. Seems to be working now. I don't know which it was...and I don't care.
