How to make an audio sample sound distant?

I want to make an audio clip sound distant and like its coming from only one ear. Is this possible?

You can use the PD18 Audio Editor to lower the clip volume of say the right channel by say by -20 db. The sound would then appear to only come from the left. Lower the overall volume too.
