How edit a row 1 video without affecting row 2 video?

I have 2 rows of video in row 1 and row 2. I use the "split timeline" control to cut sections and delete them.
I have the video check box on for row 1 and off for row 2.
Whenever I split or cut the video the same cut occurs on the row 2 video.
Is there a way to edit one row without affecting the 2nd row?

Click the padlock on row 2 video and audio to lock the track, it will turn orange when clicked.

The way I use it is very simple click on the video to select it (blue color) then, Split will be applied to only the selected video.
You may also want to apply Split to more than one selected.
Hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard while selecting more than 1 video, photo, audio etc ...
If nothing is selected, Split will be applied to all tracks.
