Converting 2 channel audio to mono

Greetings,

I am new to PowerDirector and so far it has worked very well!

Although I'm new to PD, I am not new to non linear editing.

I'm sure that this is an easy fix, but I cannot figure this out...

I am shooting on a typical ENG style video Sony camera which records up to 2 channels of audio via the internal stereo mic or via the 2 onboard XLR inputs.

Yesterday, I recorded an interview with 2 lav mics (one into each of the camera's XLR inputs).

When I went to edit the interview, I needed to independently vary each channel but could not find an easy way to split and convert them to mono channels.

I'm sure it's super simple, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks for your support!

Here's a video with most of the steps you'd need:

That was made for a longer discussion which you might find helpful. It's here if you'd like to read through it.

Other tools like AudioDirector or Audacity are available to make it easier to convert to a mono channel if desired.
