Replace a voice track

Hello. I am editing a video with PD6 and would like to replace the existing voice track with a new voice capture. I was able to split the existing sound track from the clip and then deleted it but after saving the project and re-opening it, the original voice track re-appears and this time I can't even split it.
Any suggestions?

Beni,

Right click on the clip in the timeline and select Mute Clip and add your new audio file in the voice track.
