Create blur effect with custom mask/shape, not just box or circle?

Hi

I recorded a video of me in my office and want to blur the background for privacy reasons. Only me in the foreground should be visible. I know how to add the blur effect but the only two masks I can select are box and circle. Yes, I could add multiple blur effects to cover the whole background but this seems tedious and suboptimal.

Q: Is there a way to add the blur effect with custom-drawn shapes/masks?

I'm using PowerDirector 365 version 19.0.2108.0.

Thank you.

It depends a bit on what you mean with background and what you show in the foreground, but is the effects room there is the Blur option that blurs the WHOLE picture.

If there is something in the foreground too, then maybe using the same clip in a second layer with a mask?

Hello,

Yes you can do this in the Mask Designer.

In the Mask Designer you can use a selection mask or the brush mask to create a custom mask.

Please let me know if that is was what you were looking for, and then we can try and find some tutorials if you need help from there.

Cheers

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I'm in the foreground and should be visible. The hint with the second layer and a mask works well. Thanks again.
