Stitching together multiple video files

Hello! I'm a new Powerdirector 365 user and have a question regarding stitching together multiple video files.

I recorded an event using my camera and because of the length of the event (1 1/2 hrs), my camera had to create 3 video files (mp4 format) of 4gig each.

I imported all 3 segments into the timeline and upon playing them back in the preview window, there is a 'blip' (for lack of a better word) between each segment. All 3 segmentss appear to be butted up against each other in the timeline and I have turned off snapping to ensure segment 2 isn't overlaying segment and there's no gap between them (same with segment 2 and 3).

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

I'm a previous user of Roxio NXT 6. It doesn't have this 'blip' issue but NXT 6 has many other bugs where I can't use it and their support doesn't seem to know what they are doing ever since Roxio was take over by Corel.

Thanks! Ed

1º You should try in Produce to use the Profile Analyzer option, if you are enabled.
If you do not have a compatible profile, you will have to create one based on the settings presented, or one of your own.
Cerify after video is produced, if there is still a failure in the connection between 2 videos.
If so, maybe cutting 1 or 2 frames at the end or at the beginning can solve the case.
To know quickly, in the timeline select with a yellow cursor, a small portion of the end and start, go to the button, Produce Range.
Check how is the transition from one video to another.

Thanks.

I'm not quite following what you mean but let me rephrase my initial question.

My camera captured a continuous event that is 1 1/2 hours long but the camera separated it into 3 separate files of 4gig in length each.

After I insert each segment into track 1 of the timeline, there is a very brief gap between the 1st and 2nd segments and the 2nd and 3rd segments (a fraction of a second).

I have a separate audio file which I'm inserting into track 2. The audio file is continuous and was captured off the mixing board. In other words, it's a single file the length of all 3 video segments.

Because of the brief gap between the segments in track 1, the audio in Track 2 is no longer in sync with the video/audio in track 1 for the 2nd and 3rd segments. The 1st segment is OK.

I turned off 'Snapping' in an attempt to shift segment 2 right up against segment 1 to eliminate the gap but even with the timeline zoomed into maximum, I can't move segment 2 any closer. If I try, then Powerdirector tries to overlay the tail end of segment 1.

This is only an assumption on my part, but it seems Powerdirector is inserting some sort of marker between the segments for possible inclusion of a transition of between the segments. I will not be inserting any transtions between the segments.

Perhaps a graphic representation may help describe this-

MEDIA BEING INSERTED INTO TIMELINE":

Segment 1 Segment 2 Segment 3
Track 1 (original audio/video from camera)- |......................................||......................................||..................................|

Track 2 (original audio from mixing board)- }....................................................................................................................}

AFTER INSERTION INTO TIMELINE, I'M GETTING THIS::

Segment 1 Segment 2 Segment 3
Track 1 (original audio/video from camera)- |......................................||......................................||..................................|

Track 2 (original audio from mixing board)- }.................................................................................................................}

FINAL RESULT I'M TRYING TO ACHIEVE:

Segment 1, 2 & 3
Track 1- |.....................................................................................................................................|

Track 2- |.....................................................................................................................................|

I understand, in this case that you have the full audio
I would try to select the 3 videos + the audio and Sync by Audio button.
If it works, but there is still space between the videos.
If possible, cut a ribbon from the audio
If the audio is going to fail, I would use an expand video feature to fill the empty space.
To do this, make a division near the end of the 1st video, select this short segment, holding the Ctrl key, click on the right edge of the video and drag until you find the second video.
This slows down the video but shouldn't be noticed.
When using Sync By Audio is unable to synchronize, the way to do it visually by combining the audio wave or the image, at the beginning and end.

Another suggestion use the MultiCan Designer
Add the 3 videos, and import the complete audio.
Long Time consuming process, check how the amendments were correct, if it is not a waste of time to wait.
If you manage to make amendments between videos you can save the entire video, it takes a long time.
Or save the amendments in parts, then fit in the timeline and finish your work.

EdK - Your rephrasing the issue is good and to the point the way I see it. Have no doubt that the methods suggested here for you to try probably will work fine. One of them will work.

I have a different solution for all this. See this post for the answer: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/65474.page . You may want to try the other solutions presented too as they probably work for others.

Let us know which solution work best for you.
