Upgrade to PD Premium from DVD Suite Pro bundle - please HELP
[Post New]
I own DVD Suite Pro V5.

I would like to upgrade its Power Director to a "Premium" version.

Based on the above bundle I own, which option am I selecting from the drop down menu?:

1. Upgrade to PowerDirector 5 Premium from 5.0 OEM (bundled) version
2. Upgrade to PowerDirector 5 Premium from 5.0 Express version
3. Upgrade to PowerDirector 5 Premium from 5.0 Retail version

HOW AM I SUPPOSED to know which version is my Power Director? So confusing and, hence, very very frustratring. Tried tech support three times this week and still did not get a straight answer.

I am looking at my registration history and seeing this (which is not helping at all):

Product Version Channel
PowerDirector Express 5.0 SEP Retail

p.s. What's the price of the upgrade? Will I screw up if I accidentally download wrong "upgrade" file.

Many thanks.

Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider.

Andy,

The DVD Suite Pro bundle has the PowerDirector 5 EXPRESS version included in it. You therefore are upgrading from and EXPRESS version to "2. Upgrade to PowerDirector 5 Premium from 5.0 Express version ".

To check what you have: Look at the startup image display... it should clearly state EXPRESS.

Thing is that there's a price difference of US$40 between the DVD Suite Pro bundle and the Standard bundle.

When you do a Compare Versions of those two product bundles you'll find that a lot of the differences go into the bundled PowerDirector Express version included.

This means that if you purchase the DVD Suite Standard bundle and then upgrade to PowerDirector Premium you get the exact same thing (with the exception of a few things in Power2Go and PowerBackup), but US$40 cheaper, them someone who purchased the DVD Suite Pro bundle and then upgraded to PowerDirector Premium.

Even stranger, if you purchase the DVD Suite Standard bundle and upgrade to PowerDirector Premium you've much more value for the same amount of your money then someone who purchased the DVD Suite Pro bundle.

Some might say that exploring your options before purchasing is a good thing, they would be right. On the other hand, this places a negative image on "super size me" purchases and will decrease future purchases because customers will think twice and recheck before being impressed by "increased value offers". PR should not be happy about this. And Marketing is basically shooting themselves in the foot.

Arthur,

You have slipped from the original posting subject and moved to a tangential issue to embark on a comparison and a conclusion - kindly remain on topic and post under your own subject heading - thank you.

DVD Suite Pro has the Express version of PowerDirector and upgrading this build to PowerDirector 5 Premium was the question.
