I trying to work out if you can change/move the background video on a create DVD menu

ie I have a root menu and whould like a backgound video ,but the file I have is 2 hours long (from a stand alone camera)

but only want to use a 10-15sec clip from it? (from 35mins in) or can you edit a clip then inport it?
