PD14 Not Recognizing Video Capture Device (Firewire) in Windows 10

I am currently running Power Director 14 (build 14.0.4207.0). In the past when I ran Windows 7, capturing video through Firewire 400 (both analog Hi8 [Canon ES3000 via Canopus ADVC110 analog/digital converter to Firewire 400 to PC] and digital HDV [direct Firewire 400 from Canon Vixia HV30 to PC]) worked fine. In Windows 10, however, I can not get Power Director 14 to recognize the video capture device, in either scenario described above.

My understanding is that Windows 10 dropped the Firewire controller; therefore, I have downloaded from Microsoft and installed the "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)" - see Microsoft download "Update for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2970191)" However, Power Director 14 still does not recognize the video capture device.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rob Russell

Were you able to test whether PD14 recoginized your Canon Vixia HV30 via firewire in Windows 10 (i.e., your firewire controller works with Windows 10)?

I apologize for not performing my duties sooner.
The HV30 was recognized by PD14, with no preview but did capture.
PD17 had no preview but also captured fine.
HDVsplit, an old freeware worked also, but had no preview.
Odd.
