Microsoft Store (UWP) Version Question

Hello, I have a question about PowerDirector 17 Microsoft (Windows) Store version. It's currently a bit cheaper than the regular version here and I like to install Store apps more because of convenience. I'm using the 30 day trial now and I like the software but I'd like to produce videos without watermarks so I may buy it.

However, I have some questions about it: is the Microsoft Store version updated regularly, too? So can I expect the latest version, bug fixes etc if I buy PD17 from there? Also, what about upgrade opportunities? If the next version comes out, will it be possible to upgrade v17 to the next one, or do we have to buy the full versions from the Store?

Thank you for the help in advance.

You must have missed the Cyberlink Memorial Day sale. It looks like the PD17 Ultra version sells for $30 less at the MS store that you linked. To me Ultra is Ultra, one and the same.

The Ultimate is a better deal in my way of thinking.

If you look at CL updates page they clearly state not for Microsoft Store.
"Note: This patch is not for PowerDirector 365 subscription version, hardware bundled/pre-installed versions, volume license, educational editions, or versions purchased via the Microsoft Store and Steam."
And if you read the description on the Microsoft Store it's clearly offering fixes that were provided in build 2514 on 2/26 but the latest released build for perpetual owners is 2727 from 4/22. So to me, some risk involved there for the savings.

The Microsoft Store has a note that clearly states, "Note: This version of PowerDirector does not include Screen Recorder desktop capturing software." and I don't see such a offering with the Ultra offered via CL, https://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-video-editing-software-365/comparison_en_US.html
CL appears to indicate Screen capture (Screen Recorder 2) is included with Ultra so as typical with CL version offerings, it's always a little difficult to know really what you are supposed to get. It appears it's not really the same Ultra offered through CL though.

You may have an advantage to buy it from the MS store. Scroll down to Additional information - Installation
Get this app while signed in to your Microsoft account and install on up to ten Windows 10 devices.

This may mean that you can install it on another pc like a laptop with additional cost or maybe not if you are thinking about it.

Right now there is a sale in the Microsoft Store, too (for three more days from today) and in my currency Ultra is quite a bit cheaper.

Thank you. I've seen the patch notes. I don't mind getting updates later as long as the developers do tend to this version and not just release and forget it, as such is the case with so many Microsoft Store apps. Honestly this is what I'd like to know, whether they develop this version as well, or only released a given state of the software that's not going to be improved. I have had two nasty lock-ups with the MS Store version, although it can be down to my computer and not the app itself. I would test it more extensively if I had time, but since the sale will be over soon I have to decide quickly. smile
